RoyalBlues 4,050
The way we sent a lot of players on loan, make me think we will sign 3-4 more players. Maybe they're currently working for it, who knows. kellzfresh and xPetrCechx

It seems like our board only wants to do something if the club is in crisis mode. I remember most of the pundits on BT Sport/ BBC MOTD saying that we needed to strengthen the 14/15 title winning squad..otherwise there was a big risk of us falling out of the top 4 the following season and look what happened in 15/16. I hope Conte can keep us in the conversation for a top 4 place as our current squad is 1-2 injuries away from serious issues! We're taking a gamble on Morata (has had injury issues/never faced the pressure of being the #1 option), Bakayoko (still recovering) and Rudiger (recovering from ACL), hope it pays off MrExcalibur100 and Supermonkey92

We really had another chance to build on a title winning side in times where we are surrounded by big money spending clubs all chomping at the bit to be number 1. I thought we had learned our lesson under Joses second reign. We could lose sight of the Manchester clubs and end up like Arsenal if we are not careful. We'll never end up like Arsenal. They are run like a top-6 club. They have a safety net knowing that Wenger won't win you the title but he gets enough out of his players to all but guarantee at least a Europa League place. For Chelsea...there is no safety net...if something goes seriously wrong, there will no top 4. However, if everything clicks in place, the winning mentality is there, so we're likely to challenge for the title.

But to suffered the same fate as 15/16, it is required to replicate the same disaster that happened back then too (manager falling out, staff falling out, players 'rebel', etc) which think it won't happening under Conte. Pretty sure we will be in top 4 with the current squad, but yes maybe in CL we won't go far. Anyway, still believe our window is not over yet. Don't understand why they must wait this late? The sad thing is we probably won't even panic buy good players, either. We'll wait until the deadline day and panic buy/loan a couple of painfully average players that will barely play and be sold a year from now. It's actually incredible that the season starts in mere days and we have yet to sign 2 new wing backs. Knowing for literally months that they're a priority position of need. Our club is great at getting good fees for players we sell and all things sponsorships/business deals. But when it comes to buying players and doing so in a timely manor they're terrible. United and City got a bunch of players in early and they've also played a number of matches more than us in their preseason to bed them in. They'll likely be able to hit the ground running. Morata will probably enter the Burnley match having played about 90 minutes total. Rüdiger likewise. Bakayoko will take a bit to even see the pitch. Any further signings will take time to settle. Just super frustrating. I can't see us having a nightmare start or anything like we did a couple of years ago but won't be surprised if we lose/drop points against both Everton and Spuds in our first 3 games. jernej93 569
My only concern is Hazard and Bakayoko not being ready for game 1. With them and Morata in good shape this team would look A LOT stronger. I hope they can be fit in 2-3weeks time ... on the other hand their injuries also have a "bright" side. Realizing that we need depth before transfer window closes is better than realizing that fact in October if one or two of are key players are missing than. zekinjo 449
It's not matter of IF but WHEN we're going to conclude 3-4 players. Absolutely agree with people here that, 4-5 players (without GK) out of 7-8 we will sign this summer, should have been CFC players way before August considering injuries and the fact we're selling our star players with all the loans but who knows what's going inside the club. I certainly don't. Conte knows and that's why he's unhappy and clearly shows that to everyone (in)directly while transmitting negative energy (in direction to the club, players and fans) not because he's behavior is childish but because lack of quantity and quality in players he is getting and he's getting players very slow. And yes that could cost us big but hope not. Players we're connected with are: 1) Barkley (rumors saying if not this weekend then next week we'll try to close the deal and get him) 2) Alex Sandro (rumors saying when Juve take Spinazzola back they will sell for £70 + odds, everything will be done in 24-48h) 2) Ox (rumors saying he didn't decide and still wait to see if CFC are going to buy another RB) 4) Renato Sanches (rumors saying he's still our big wish and we'll wait for his and Bayern decision, maybe until the end of August) First 4 are our main targets. 5) Drinkwater (reports saying it's fake news with purpose to make one of our targets and their clubs decide faster in our favor, probably Barkley and Sanches) 6) Llorente (for now just a rumor) 3/4 from our list will certainly arrive by reports and sources, maybe all 4. Let's buy some 🍿 and chill a little because it's August and it's big lottery now, nobody can guarantee you what you're going to get. It depends on how strong contacts you've been made already with your targets and their clubs, plus lions (pounds) on the table. A lots of zeros. ✌🏻

xPetrCechx 13,598
Conte says we 'need more players to improve our squad' both in terms of quality and the size of it. #CFC Conte says it is important the club know his position on how many new players we need, and not the press. #CFC Conte says it is important to keep the positive things from a good season - as our system was - and change the negative things. #CFC Conte says playing Morata and Batshuayi together is an option, adding he wants to play the Spaniard as a no.9 this season. #CFC - When pedro & Hazard are injured, we have no another option... Popular Post! It's too big 625 Posted August 4, 2017 Popular Post! Share Posted August 4, 2017 God would people stop overreacting, it's absolutely pathetic. He already said the board and himself are working to find the right solution, so they know what they want and are working on targets. Not every transfer can be done in straight away. It takes time to negotiate. If anybody has actually read about the transfer process, it takes anywhere from a few days up to weeks depending on the situation. Everybody chooses to take the negative from everything Conte speaks about transfers. What is he supposed to say to the press? He's not going to speak on issues which are between himself and the club. The quicker people get that through their heads, the better. It's fine though, carry on your agenda against the board. Fuck me. Well... Envoyé de mon SM-A510F en utilisant Tapatalk That's not quite what Steve Atkins meant. He reconfirmed that Diego and his representatives were informed in January that our Brazilian Spaniard would not be a part of the manager's plans after the end of the 2016/17 season. He did not specifically deny that Antonio had sent the infamous text message, indeed the message must be real, or no lawyer would be making so much of it. Atkins just made it clear that Diego already knew in January that the club did not want him to continue beyond the end of last season and pointed out that the claim that Diego had heard it for the first time in a text message is just nonsense. The lawyer's description of the text message is a pretty obvious and shallow attempt to manufacture some extra leverage for his client. His strange, and all too transparent, claim that Antonio had 'released' Diego in that text is silly and will fool no one. 21 minutes ago, Fernando said: PR not sure if to believe him. Why didn't Conte answered? Antonio did answer, and did so in the same way he has done several times previously. Steve Atkins just added a specific response, on behalf of the club, to comments made by Diego's lawyer earlier this week. (Because the question asked of Antonio was about those comments.)
