Belgiannutt 3,201
Wouldn't say we're overachieving. We're not playing better then we can we're simply playing at 100% of our ability. 18 hours ago, Blue-in-me-Veins said: Your latter paragraph is absolutely correct. The PL simply put, is a Striker's league, always has, always will be. And ours is on fuckin fire. But we have absolutely no goal threat CM, none. Hazard and Pedro simply have to be a consistent source of goals if we are to have a serious title challenge. Costa has 11 goals, Hazard 8, And everyone else has 3 or less. And Matic, Kante, Moses, Willian, Cesc, are simply NOT known for their goal scoring. When we won the PL title two years ago, the top goal scorers in PL were: Costa-20, Hazard-14, Drogba & Remy (combined)= 11goals, Oscar = 6. So thats 45 goals from our Forwards, and 6 from CM. Unless Pedro gets 11, idk who else becomes our 3rd goal scoring threat, because we also don't play with 2 Strikers either. May just have to hope Costa stays healthy and is put in a position to net 30 goals. Which would be a Herculean effort from him, but not out of the question. Dybala/Griezmann needed immediately in the summer. Or some other WC option to play RF. "Only" 2 goalscorers is actually perfectly fine (for now). Only the absolute top teams, Real Madrid and Barcelona have three goalscorers ( high double digits 15-25 goals). As long as Costa and Hazard keep up their goalscoring form we should be fine. Also about not having any goals from CM. Do note we are playing a different formation where the main responsibility to score goals falls onto the front 3 with our wingbacks pushing forward making it a front 5. The job of our CM's is to simply mop up behind that front 5 and offer a passing outlet out from the oppositions attacking third. So it's a bit unfair to expect goals from those 2 considering they rarely find themselves into goalscoring positions. EMK

Leif 6,006
Even Conte says here that Costa can improve. No whiff or sniff of him being the best striker around, yet. I'm glad. (It's so satisfying to get a long post-match interview that's just enjoyable. I've never experienced this before.)

BoyBlue96 990
This man does not deserve the FA vomiting on us with that point deduction bullshit. Would be an insult to what this man has done with and for us after the Arsenal game.
Jase 43,479
Don't think this has been mentioned yet but credit to Conte for tweaking the system yesterday as well, not just changing the personnel. Started with 3-4-3, switched to 4-1-4-1 when that wasn't working, got the goal and then went to a 5-3-2 to see out the win. Not exactly ideal that we sat back after going 1-0 up but we defended well, didn't give West Brom a chance and got the job done. So, well played. jernej93, kellzfresh, 11Drogba and 1 other

Leif 6,006
No offence intended (well, a little), but do realise deeply that some clowns on here wanted Stones & Simeone to lead us this season. The same clowns aren't posting anything about Simeone, because they only wanted him due to where Atletico ended up in the table, and the media reports. Who's watching Atletico consistently this season besides the couple of (admittedly not clowns) Griezmann fans? Shambolic manager in a shambolic league. Their players are incredible. They have some of the most talented players in world football. But they were as talented before his arrival. I'm so satisfied that things ended up how they did. Ranieri won the league last season, should we go for him next? Supermonkey92 and xPetrCechx

Sure, Atletico had talented players even before he arrived but look at their results and what they achieved before he took over and after he took over. And going by your logic, I guess you could say the same about Conte too, no? People only wanted him due to where Juventus ended up in the table. He's shambolic manager who managed in a one-team league. Juventus had talented players even before Conte's arrival. 11Drogba, manpe, OneMoSalah and 9 others

If there's one team over the past few years that's been MUCH more than the sum of its parts, it's Simeone's Atletico. They're having a bad season (domestically) but you can't write Simeone off already.
