The Mourinho Thread

You could say the same about Brazilian football though right?

All of your best players, play in Europe?

Football is a global sport now...

And you guys are complaining that Mourinho is trying to get along with the press? Seriously? He's got them under control and tamed... They are the puppets he is the master.

If you can't see that for what it is - tactical genius (and proof he has evolved and learnt) - then I'm sad for both of you.

I guess it all boils down to this question... Would either of you have a problem with what he is doing saying, if he said Brazilian football was the best in the World?

Thought not ;)

Ciao... :)

1) What are you on about? LOL!

Of course you can say that about Brazilian football. That is why it is shit and nobody whatches it!

Everybody here complains about how we lose all our best players to other countries and that our local league has gone to hell because of it. Everybody says how European football has evolved due to the South American countries not being able to keep our own players. Everybody says we used to play sexy football and now all we can do is score headers through corners. Etc...

Things in Brazil are far away from the 'futebol arte' stuff we used to have. Despite still producing awesome players, the sport has been horribly handled in the past 10-15 years and it just isnt the same.

I dont know why you are trying to make this a Brazil vs England thing, but we dont live in the utopic world you think we do!

2) You said yourself that football is a global sport now. So how can you agree on this whole 'English football' bandwagon? I mean, what about the EPL is trully English for you to praise?

I get why Mourinho is doing that (which is why I wasnt the one who made the post complaining), but it gets on my nerves when the blind fanboys have those crazy reactions to his quotes (like a god is speaking)!

Like Henrique said, it is not as if he believes in the things he is saying, he is only doing that because of his failure in Spain. Before things turned south in Madrid, he used to praise spanish's free flowing style and never complained about diving. He also did that about Italy and their tactics in his period in Inter. Now, he is all 'English football this, English football that'. Only to become the popular one!

It is quite irritating.

3) He talks about a lot stuff he does otherwise...

He talks about diving, but his teams always dived a lot (specially Real and Porto). He talks about how English style, players and coaches are awesome; but he is Portuguese, plays a typical German style and has a foreigner spine!

Mourinho is too good to need that kind of hipocrisy, imo!

4) Dont get me wrong, I was not criticizing English football. I love English football and that is why I follow Chelsea. The way you people treat and respect the sport of football is to take my hat off!

I was just stating that the things he so much talks dont necessarily need to be English!

I love things I see in videos of the England in the 80s and 90s. I really do. But things are different now and that isnt found in EPL anymore!

Mourinho keeps referring to something not even he experienced during 2004-08. It is not like back then there was tons of English players and coaches. So I dont get why this only bothers him now abd why he has to come in every press conference and talk about something related to English football!

Football and EPL have evolved and things changed. He doesnt need to moan about it every time...

5) I cant see how importing the best players and coaches is a bad thing.

I cant see why there is a constant complain about not having many British players and managers. What is the big deal? I mean, you guys can watch the best every week and learn from them. So, even though there isnt many British-born personel in the league right now, the country and its citizens do take advantage of it...

You shouldnt go for the 'English' just because they are English. You should actually embrace this golden era you are having and try to take lessons to imrpove in the future!

Sorry, but it just doesn't happen that way at all. Jose doesn't have the press in his control, nor the press is the puppets. The press need Mourinhos, and he needs the press. He knows how to deal with it.

About the brazilian thing, what the fuck are you talking about? Football played in Brazil is boring and shit, its a pain to watch 95% of the games played here, and the best brazilian players are in Europe. The reason why I became a Chelsea fan its because I love english football, and the game that got my attention was a match between Boro and Chalrton years ago, full of intensity for 90 minutes.

But, you dont need a guy saying it every time he has the opportunity. We already know that Jose love english football, he already said that 1.0000000 times, we all know in England the diving aspect of the game have a different approach, and he sound cynical when he talk about how many foreigners you have in PL, when, besides Philips, Sidwell and Parker, Jose usually dont buy english players.

Even tough I love my mom, I will get really bored if hear my sister all the time saying our mom is great, and how bad she loves her.

Thats exactly what Mourinho is doing right now, but Im leaving this discussion here, it seems a lot of people really are more interested in other aspects of Jose Mouinho than his tactics and choices...

I'd still play Azpi RB and Ash LB as first choice.

Gotta love the guy though, he didn't play Azpi at all at the start but Azpi did as you're supposed to do. Get a chance and fucking well take it without moaning. He's been brilliant this season. When you get a chance, you have to take it like Willian and Azpi have done. Kudos to them.

Jose is just by far the best in the world.

And azpi might not be the best but just like at real when mourinho had arbeloa who was not the best neither but he played him a lot.

For mourinho, no matter what the most important thing is that they where hard worker and follow what the coach told them.

I can't believe anyone takes all of Jose's statements as serious ... He is the master of handling the Media .. Tell the truth just a sufficiently large enough % of the time,

Then lie convincingly through your teeth when you need to ,, But keep the players on your side ,,,

I like the way Jose has dealt with the attacking midfield situation on the pitch.

Most standard-good manager would have probably stuck to the Mazacar, with De Bruyne immediate back up filling in when one needed a rest, with Moses and Schurrle (who was coming in regardless of who our manager was) playing the squad role. Willian would be a Tottenham.

I like that Jose pretty much sussed straight away that the Mazacar leaves us unbalanced, exposed and well to narrow, and it seems like the way forward is Willian and Schurrle in one spot, with Mazacar fighting in the other two, and the AM has a lot more of a balanced look for it.

Pro-activeness like that, is what separates the good from the great.

Also i like that he seems to have sussed that Cahill-Luiz partnership is not a good one, hench the fact it hasn't been used since Basle at home, outside of domestic cups.

The Utd job was Mourinho's to turn down, he informed Fergie over a vey nice glass of red that Chelsea was his club and London was his City after Mourinho dumped Utd out of the Champions League last season. And you will not read that in Fergie's book ,but maybe in Mourinho's after 12 years at Chelsea .

People still won't believe that.

They will say that United turned him down.

It would have been awesome if SAF had said what he thought.

Either way even with the best scenario for them is they did not seek out Mourinho and the great Man Utd gave the job to Gollum ,they were either turned down by Mourinho or let Fergie choose his mate as manager ,Fergies long term legacy could end up being he left the club with a massive debt, very dubious owners and a second rate manager.

But you remember the time when they were saying that Jose was touting for the job ,well he was not ,he was stringing Fergie along ,just as he did when he slipped on Modric in the Champions League game while Fergie was in the fourth officials ear and waving his arms around furiously failing to react, still arguing when Modric scored.

Take Jose on his word here and that is "He is where he wants to be" and he is "One of us" all the fans had to do was convince Roman who the new manager should be and the thought of him going to Utd was enough to get Roman to seal the return,Mourinho used Utd and Fergie to get the job he really wanted and last time I checked that was manager of Chelsea,he had outmanouvered Fergie for the last time.

Fergie still thinks Mourinho is his mate :D:D:D . Dictators like Fergie always meet their match and everything they had built comes crashing down very quickly, once they have been outsmarted.

And in Mourinho Fergie met his master.

Even sentiments aside, Jose is not stupid enough to have taken the united job now the state they are currently at. If anything, I was worried he would take the CIty job which would have been much easier for him. But luckily he chose the tougher job that is possibly more rewarding in the long that is building a new team here at Chelsea.

I love how the team is shaping up. His work is really starting to show!

There is only one doubt I still have and that is how he will behave in the upcoming transfer windows. I think it well tell us a lot of what his plans are...

I think he's dropped some hints that he wants to make 2 "clinical" signings - I'm assuming that's at the ST & CM positions, which is correct - it's what we need the most. If we get the right players in those positions the foundations can be set for years.

We can then start looking for a new LB and CB to replace Ashley and John.
