Pretty sure that is based on Schurrle's performances this season only. It's like all the good things he did for us last season never even existed.

He had a trick against Fulham and two against Sunderland. He couldn't even get into the squad before mid December. He was and is wildly inconsistent and that's why he's off.

Waiting for the 'he is overpriced, shit...etc' brigade to come out now...Lets get Costa for 30m shouldn't we...Stop dreaming about Reus, HE WILL NEVER JOIN CHELSEA. Deal with it.

We're signing Reus too, mate. Chill.

Cuadrado is Salah's replacement. Reus is Schürrle's.

:)

He had a hat-trick against Fulham, a brace against Stoke, scored against PSG, Arsenal and Man City (twice) too. He is inconsistent but as if the likes of Oscar, Willian etc weren't and aren't. They have played poorly so many times and yet got so many opportunities to get into form, improve themselves and the consistency going. But Schurrle or even Salah? Hardly got enough of the privilege.

Not necessarily doubting you but one could easily turn around and say a similar thing, about how most people have suddenly turned into an expert on Cuadrado or Italian football for that matter in 2-3 weeks.

Oh the irony of that...

I'm no expert on Serie A but I've been watching it since 2011 because Allegri's Milan was entertaining to watch. I've seen Cuadrado's breakthrough season(2012) and that was when he was playing for Lecce. Believe me when I say this his decisionmaking is much better than that of Willians. He is a more direct player but people just assume that he is like Willian just because they're both pacey black wingers lol.

As for people who are complaining about the price, what do you seriously expect? The market has changed it's not like it used to be, just because our board have managed to sign world class players for such a low price does not mean it can happen everytime. This price is fairly decent for a player of his calibure.

Schurrle contributes very little to the team. He gets the odd goal here and there which is great, but he often take shots from futile positions or take other poor decisions. If we can get a player that challenges Willian based on merit throughout the season that it is by itself an upgrade. Especially when it seems that we are basically swapping Schurrle for Cuadrado.

If he actually does a job which is good enough to replace Willian then even better.

Being able to throw in one of Cuadrado/Willian when chasing/defending a result is a scenario many coaches would dream about.

Regarding Schurrle's shooting: He who is afraid to throw the dice never rolls a six. Also considering hes an inverted winger usually, it makes sense as to why he shoots so often as he prefers to come inside given the opportunity.

Cuadrado has scored 4 goals in Serie A... hes hardly a goal scorer is he. Schurrle has a knack of scoring goals starting or not starting (City last year, City this year, Stoke, PSG, Arsenal, Fulham x3, Swansea, Burnley).

Also according to who scored this season Cuadrado has played more as a number 10, appearing there 10 times with 4 goals so I ask is he really gonna be that much better than Willian on the right in goals and assists or in fact better than Schurrle? I doubt it very much. Signing a player whos on course to have his best stats so far in his career have come centrally to play wide sounds like Willian all over again, for another stupid inflated price, despite being an inferior player to him too. For all his lack of final ball and goals what Willian does is essential.

Also they mention holding onto the ball as a weakness, which was also Mata's problem playing on the wing, he wasn't so good under pressure where as Hazard, Willian and Oscar are...

If we want a winger we should go for someone who is a step above what we have, not similar level or worse. Reus, Griezmann, Turan, Koke, all players who are much better than Willian and probably would be at a similar price if clubs were convinced to sell them.

Remember what people were saying right before we signed Costa?

Sad truth is football has always been like that. Price, rep, relationship with manager...etc plays a huge role too

Squad players have it so bad (especially at Chelsea under jose)

No offence but this 'truth' talk is kinda BS. Some other managers would have been less stubborn and given players more chances to prove themselves as opposed to just write them off when things go south. It's fine Mourinho has good relationship with the players but doesn't mean it's fine if he's letting them affect his management of the players. Mind you, if this situation was the way round, I would be saying the exact same thing.

Even if Oscar scores 4 own goals he'll still be in the starting XI lol.
