This is from the summer dude.

No, this picture is of a travel for a Colombian team convocatory, because the other guy (Black shirt and jean) is Carlos Carbonero, another Colombian player than plays in Italy.

Thank God. I'm hoping this deal collapses just as I did with the Hulk, paulinho and Guarin ones.

In today's market we are getting him for a reasonable price and after all the great transfers of the summer, people shouldn't really complain about this one. Have your doubts, but saying that Jose has to answer for a transfer, IF it goes bad, seems silly to me.

Some people here are acting like we're spending Di Maria type money on him. FFS, £25m for someone like him is great. Especially considering he was valued at a much higher price in the summer and had huge clubs after him.

What are you talking about? You're not going to get a goal scoring winger, and when I say goalscoring I mean around 15, who works hard tracking back and plays our style for under £30-35m. And yes we do have that luxury! Basically what's being done here is we are shuffling the decks to look for chemistry and fit. Schurrle hasn't worked and neither had salah. The move once its been determined they aren't working or aren't happy is to find players within their price range who fit our style and hope they blend with the team. What you're advocating is we spend more money in wages and fee and hope whoever comes in is better since we paid more. That's not gonna happen. Cuadrado is replacing schurrle not willian. He is being brought in to challenge willian.

So you want us to spend 35m euros on a squad player?

I don't get that. If we have already agreed the fee and terms with Fiorentina (at least according to sources from Italy), then are we still playing hardball with Wolfsburg and even Dortmund over Schurrle? Seems like we're refusing to accept anything less than 25m pounds.

26m pounds is a decent price considering that Willian was 30m.

If we applied that logic, every transfer will seem reasonable and justifable. If andy carroll was worth £35m then James is worth £63m and so on. Whatever happened to making shrewed and sensible signings like the Costa and fabregas ones. Just because we overpayed for willian doesn't make it OK to overpay for Cuadrado.

He's better than Willian and he is Willians replacement, what you're talking about is irrelevant. By the way have you actually seen Cuadrado play? He was a beast in the WC and he has been beasting in the Italian league aswell.

Schurrle contributes very little to the team. He gets the odd goal here and there which is great, but he often take shots from futile positions or take other poor decisions. If we can get a player that challenges Willian based on merit throughout the season that it is by itself an upgrade. Especially when it seems that we are basically swapping Schurrle for Cuadrado.

If he actually does a job which is good enough to replace Willian then even better.

Being able to throw in one of Cuadrado/Willian when chasing/defending a result is a scenario many coaches would dream about.

Even for 15-20M, there's something very unsettling to me about paying that amount of money for a player who hasn't managed to consistently perform well in the Ukrainian league. From what I've read he's shown flashes of quality but generally hasn't impressed all that much but you're telling me that he's going to come to the premier league, in the middle of the season, to a more disciplined system than he's used to and with less playing time than he's used to and suddenly be able to make a big enough impact? Mata, KDB, Moses, Salah, Schurrle - all have struggled to impress but somehow a 24 yr old from the Ukrainian league who isn't even the best player in his team will come in the middle of the season and do better than all those players? It just seems like fantasy thinking.

I just think that he may fit in with the team's way of playing far better and more naturally than some of those players you have listed. He is more effective in defensive situations than Mata, is more technically gifted and a better passer than Moses/Schurrle/Salah, is faster than Mata and KDB, and is also more capable of handling a physical game than Mata/Salah/(maybe Schurrle) are. Add to this the fact that Lucescu is known for instilling a good degree of tactical discipline into his teams (and players), and I feel that he could be a good all-round fit with our current team as a squad-player. Does he have problems with consistency? Yes, he does, but players who find themselves on the bench almost always do anyway.

Pretty sure that is based on Schurrle's performances this season only. It's like all the good things he did for us last season never even existed.

That moment when people have their critics about a player and they have not even seen him play.

Not necessarily doubting you but one could easily turn around and say a similar thing, about how most people have suddenly turned into an expert on Cuadrado or Italian football for that matter in 2-3 weeks.

Oh the irony of that...
