I'm probably forgetting someone really obvious but it feels like we haven't had an Italian player in our squad for ages!

Borini. Before that Cudicini I think.

His goals last season weren't too impressive, but he seems a tidy little poacher. Reminds me a bit of Higuain although still not convinced. Just have to trust Jose.

Right kind of signing. Young, already pretty good, but can only get better. He's the kind of signing that even if we end up re-selling in a few years, we likely won't lose any money on. Would be a great peace of business.

But of course it all depends on the Torres to Milan deal, and I'm not getting my hopes up on that.

We cannot go into the season with Costa and Drogba.

And I cant see any other realistic options.

He seems good enough. It's probably a really good investment considering his age. Would we sell him 2-4 seasons later we'd cash in on him.

So... how is he really? His strengths and weakenesses?

Potential, ceiling?

Wondering the same. Everyone seems pretty excited about the prospect of us signing him but to me that's more excitement of Torres going than Destro coming in.

I'd never even heard of this guy before we were linked. Is he really Chelsea quality? To be honest, I'd have signed Balotelli for £16m.

Injury has plagued much of the 23-year-old Italian's short career already, so for that reason he is something of a risk, but the way he rediscovered form last season despite a lengthy lay-off was simply astounding.

He started just 15 league matches in 2013-14 and yet ranked in the top 15 goalscorers in Italy. He was thus the most prolific Serie A player in front of goal, averaging fewer minutes per goal (95.1) than anyone else.

Comparatively, the now-departed Demba Ba scored most frequently for Chelsea last term with a goal every 132.2 minutes.

Destro doesn't need many chances to score either; of the 24 players to hit 10+ Serie A goals last season, Destro scored the highest proportion of his shots (33.3%) and the highest proportion of his shots on target (59.1%).

Considering Liverpool paid £16m for Mario Balotelli (whose respective goalscoring rates were 9.2% and 27.5%), £20m for Destro could prove a snip.

Injury prone player is the perfect backup striker (one of the reason why I like Jovetic )

People who are not yet convinced about Destro, you just need to think about one thing: getting him would mean Torres leaving. It doesn't even matter who he is.. TORRES LEAVES. We should all be hailing this fairly unknown guy for providing us a viable option to replace (and thus unload) the shittiest fraud we have ever had. Plus he has a cool name - Destro.

To be honest even with Costa Destro and Drogba the striker situation is a bit shaky. Hamstrings are the worst type of soccer injury because they take a long time to heal and they are so easy to reinjure.

I'd really like to see a 4th option if it means Bamford or some other young prospect type.

I know it's a pipe dream but Benteke/Costa/Destro would be a great striking trio. Young and versatile and could allow for 2 striker set ups to change the formation when needed.
