Even Aguero, the best striker in the league which most people agree with has his droughts where he sometimes goes 5-6 games without scoring. Costa is no different. But when they are on form, they really are on form.

Paq got a lot of stick for sayjng Costa is the second best striker in the world and while he may have exaggarted with second, there is a strong case for Diego being 4th behind Aguero, Suarez and Lewa.

Two top strikers won't be happy taking turns. The two you mentioned aren't even slightly on the same level as Costa. Even with the eventual injury or suspension he's been capital for the title, much better return than all potentially available strikers in the market.

Costa is underrated on his ability to score goals. He went through a bit of drought, any player is subjected to that. Even missing matches he takes us to a new level 7 goals/assists in five matches is one of the reasons we reacted in the league...

Then that brings me back to my original point that we need to sell him because our team performances are too reliant on him.

The problem with Costa, aside from attitude and tendencies to act like a right prick at times, is that all he brings is goals. His technical ability on the ball is largely poor (except when finishing obviously), his dribbling..................................his passing is erratic at times and for a big bully he can often be muscled off the ball too easily.

So when the goals dry up, we basically play with a man less in attack.

I completely disagree. Nothing wrong in being "very emotional", I don't understand how thats a negative thing, specially when you talking about a very emotional game like football. Can you explain how being emotional is unprofessional? Costa is a leader, is the kind of guy that can change the team's spirit. He is eaily our most important player in post-Mourinho era.

I won't talk about his first 16 league games of this season, since its clear at this point that he had problems with Mourinho that were affecting his perfomances.

Seriously? You want proof how Costa is unprofessional? Have you even watched him play for us?!

Costa is NOT a leader. I wouldn't give him the armband if he was the last man in the team. Leaders are role models. They set an example for the rest of the team to follow. They don't elbow and stomp on opposition players and they don't get themselves needlessly into trouble in almost every single game.

Take the blue tinted glasses off for a second, there are probably youth coaches showing kids videos of Costa as a guide for how NOT to act on a football pitch!

I would say Suarez and Aguero (top-tier) then Lewa, Costa and Benzema.

The change of opinion on Costa is astounding.

It is. Football is a fickle game. Personally, I've always overlooked Costa's poor start to the season because the team was completely not good enough in general. Same way I'm overlooking Eden's poor form.

I agree, but only with your point regarding Diego.

You can excuse the striker for cutting an isolated figure when the midfield behind him can boast the same inventiveness and incisiveness that a three year-old could. But that is the issue - Hazard has been, all season, akin to that three year-old midfielder. He looks absolutely useless at everything he attempts. There is an obvious crisis of confidence and the only conclusion I can come to is that the boy's heart isn't at Chelsea. He seems to have lost his hunger, whilst Diego has had his reinvigorated. I'm not holding out for a similar transformation by Eden.

But anyway, this is Diego's thread.

We shouldnt sell him. People might dislike him for his actions but he is top striker and thats it. He aint Suarez but still in today world of so called world class strikers ala Falcao, Cavani, Jackson, Higuain etc who are total shit when things get serious, Costa is actualy damn good one. Been consistent at top clubs for some time now and does his job.

Not to mention in last 10 years only two strikers actualy made it here; Drogba and Costa.

Unless we get Suarez, Aguero or Lewandowski no fucking way should we sell Costa because there aint no other stirker out there who is actualy good striker and not just some wannabe who did wonders for Porto or Napoli and when he came to big club it turned he was average at best.

One might dislike Costa but for the quality of today strikers, he is pretty damn good and people dont appreciate that enough. We dont live in world when you had Nistelrooy, Raul, Trezeguet, Del Piero, Ronaldo etc playing at same time. Such strikers are extreme rarity today.

I agree with the sentiment, but Higuain has 23 goals in the Serie A this season.
