King11Didier 916
What a player. That's a world class player indeed. You just give him the chance and he takes it like it's nothing. Brings attention to your eye even for 10 minutes, it's enough for him. He is really useful in matches like this, but if we are playing against a team who are pressing high, he won't find a place. Conte is smart enough and knows well when to play him, amazig sub today.
LDN Blue 7,903
Brilliant attitude on display from Cesc. Hasn't dropped his head or attitude in spite of being dropped from the starting XI, Conte doesn't seem to have any sort of problem with him either. Fabulous assist to Costa, that Fabregas-Costa combination is one of our most underutilised weapon lately but this shows what Fabregas can do when he's got time on the ball and space. The fundamental problem is that last part, when he's afforded time and space. The reason he's not starting is his inability to stay within the game when the pace is increased and when there's someone marking him on the pitch. However a situation like today, coming off the bench relatively fresh (in comparison to the opposition) and being allowed to play the killer pass we know he's capable of. At the age of 29 I wouldn't say he's an old man who can't learn to adapt, but he's going to have to make many alterations to the way he plays before he's starting under Conte regularly - But at least he's not giving up in his persuit of doing so. Displays like today will only make Conte trust him even more. Jype

He intercepted the ball so he created the space for himself. Also, I know that 'time and space' are always used together, but in the case of Fabregas the argument that he needs time is just nonsensical when he more often than not plays his passes first time. I mean our other option in midfield usually takes about 5 seconds and 2 or 3 touches to set the ball onto his left foot before he could make a 10 yard pass! JT can give you world class long passes with enough time and space on the ball, but Cesc Fabregas is probably the best in the world at it because he can see and execute the long pass faster than anyone else. And that's not to say that he does not struggle when he is given little space. LDN Blue, Blue Armour, FabHazard and 3 others
Polo7 3,496
This is a guy who won titles at Barcelona. He is willing to work his way back into the first 11. KDB and Lukaku wanted guaranteed spot in first 11 without achieving anything. Class attitude. Panic, EMK, King11Didier and 1 other

Yeah I get you,  but in this context I meant time to get into the game and space to play the ball into. Rather than he get closed down and bullied in midfield as usual, he was allowed to actually scope what was ahead of him before he'd even made the interception. It was a simple look to see the space he could play the ball into and open up their defence. Fair enough Watford's defending wasn't good for that goal, but Cesc grabbed the opportunity to play it in. DDA 9,941
We all know the ideal role for Cesc is now one that is similar to how Pirlo was being used at Juve in his later years. We have the players to protect him in midfield. Cesc doesn't have the legs to do the dirty work just like Pirlo didn't. His passing and vision is just something you have to utilise, especially when he is one of the only players in the club who actually has genuine world class ability on the ball! Apart from Eden, you will find it hard to select a player who can split open a defence like Cesc does. I do think we should be looking for a player who has Cescs ability on the ball and ability to chase and harras defenders too with high energy. Will not be easy to find such a player but this should be a priorty for our scouts.
Hybrid Angel 2,130
If you're not gonna play Cesc again Watford who are you gonna play him against? He thrives in games where the opposition sit back and defend. Should have started instead of Oscar today and should start with Oscar against Burnley. Matic will be a liability against Burnley who are guatanteed to park the bus.
The Skipper 20,609
The pass was orgasmic. Unbelievable assist. Cesc is looking in superb shape as well. Honestly, surround him with legs next to him and he can do bits. Surrounding him with legs isn't really building the team around him either. Blue Colored Sky and Sideshow Luiz

Nainggolan is the obvious name that comes to mind.  But, that doesn't seem to be going anywhere.  Koke would be great, but we're not going to convince him to leave AM for us. Sissoko?  Lars Bender?  Bazoer (for the FM/FIFA crowd)?  I'd love to get Saul from AM, I'm sure he'd cost less than the James numbers that have been going around (if we could tempt him to leave). Blue Armour 4,442
Before the pre-season began this year Fabregas himself had admitted that he was not the best defensively, but could do a good job if he had a couple of midfield partners who could do the leg-work. We get Kante to play alongside Matic, and lo, Oscar takes his starting 11 spot... Hopefully the result from this game means that he will reclaim his spot in the starting 11. Cesc can deliver great passes against any team,he is that good.He gets exposed defensively, but he has his strenghts going forward. If Cesc is out,Costa will struggle a lot due to the fact that Only Hazard can feed him with good passes and if that is not the case anymore,Costa actually has to get back and get the ball and that is something I honestly do not want to see.The reason for that is simple. If he has to get the ball from the back,he has to do more with his feet. His first touch and his combination play are horrible. His two biggest strenghts are his shot accurancy and his runs behind the defenders. He will not be able to do that shit,so Costa is basically useless for most of the time. If we get James,I could understand Cesc leaving and accept it,but Oscar as our main starter and Cesc leaving is too much for me.Selling Mata, selling KDB and selling Cesc and giving Oscar the chance being the main starter for the next 5 years is too much for me.I can´t handle that shit. All those named played were far better than Oscar, but all our coaches thought that Oscar was the real deal... Unionjack
