Amblève. 4,995
Saying England are worse than the likes of Ecuador, Costa Rica or Honduras is just ridiculous but there are still plenty of teams better than them in the tournament so I would be surprised if England even make it to the QFs. I'd suprised if England made it out of the group stage. Uruguay and Italy are much better teams. boshman

Sidzeret 2,257
TBF England have always been unlucky in the WC- from penalty shootouts to disallowed goals to unlucky sending offs- but the team spirit was never the thing of the English NT. If Roy can sort that out (which is seriously doubt), then they have a great chance of making the WC quarters at least. In order to make an impact, he need to make bold decisions like benching Gerrard and Johnson and Lampard and giving quality time for young blood in the team. But I suppose dumping Cole was the last of his bold moves. And they are going to fail miserably this time around. The next real chance of them at the cup is going to be when Jose manage England in 10 years time But I'm still buying that England shirt and gonna support them like I've always done. (fuck you, Nike- you are ripping me off for a plain white shirt)

Spike 12,049
One thing a football fan should always take note of is that you should never write off the English. We're strongest in the face of adversity. Didn't help in the 90s and 80s when it came to cricket tbh.

BlueLion. 21,491
Worked out well for you guys at international level in the last 45 years or so. Let's face it, England are shit. It doesn't matter if the English clubs (United, Chelsea, Liverpool) have shown great spirit in Europe against some of the top teams in the continent because in addition to having some English players these teams have always relied massively on foreign talent so it's hardly the same thing as the national team.Saying England are worse than the likes of Ecuador, Costa Rica or Honduras is just ridiculous but there are still plenty of teams better than them in the tournament so I would be surprised if England even make it to the QFs. That's exactly how I feel. We're nowhere near as bad as people think we are. I think we did relatively well in Euro 2012, and I wouldn't be surprised if we ended up progressing through our group. The expectation, for once, is so low for England that we might even be able to enjoy ourselves. Jype
Pacquiao 1,834
very mediocre squad! they wont get out their group! and Rooney, Gerrard and Sturridge will all flop imo.
Spike 12,049
I stand by what I stated in the article though. If Hodgeson doesn't play youth, he is a moron.
Hutcho 8,443
If Woy doesn't start sturridge i will have to personally fly out to Brazil to slap him.I would hope its something like:HartJohnson Cahill Jagielka BainesGerrard WilshereSterling Rooney LallanaSturridge
The only place to be 11,313
If England can keep it tight at the back then maybe the likes of Rooney, Barkley and Sturridge can get something on the counter.Unfortunately the skipper is a bit of a bottle job and a cunt to boot. Already thrown away the league for Liverpool so can't count on him not to slip up. iseah100, BlueLion. and Spike
Tomo 21,751
It wouldn't surprise me if Costa Rica go through. Italy play all there games in Manaus, Uruguay aren't all that beyond Suarez and Cavani and England are England. Costa Rica have a higher chance of sneeking through than people think. iseah100
LDN Blue 7,903
I'll still be cheering England on to the maximum! My exams finish 11th June, so the next evening I'll be hammered and be the most patriotic mf in my SU
Nike 373
Better question is, who will advance further, England or the United States....I, think both of them won't advance past group....
Fernando 6,585
England advancing far is about the same as Mexico making it to this world cup. Both teams are really shitty, and advancing far will just mask the fundamental problems. Had Mexico fail to qualify for the WC, the federation would have taken drastic step to try to fix the root of the problem. Now they most likely will pamper the crack. If England don't get out of the group stage, I expect the FA to take a bolder approach into implementing some strategy for England youth. With England advancing far, it will be the same as Mexico, most likely pamper the cracks.
Las7 951
Looney keeps being shite for England and keeps getting selected. If he is dropped England might stand a better chance but no chance the White Pele isn't played by the retards who select the squad.
Shane 2,275
Its a real shame that Jay Rodriguez got injured. I thought he was outstanding for Southampton this season, 15 league goals in 33 games is good going for a player who does start wide. Think he would have made an impact for England as well.Think if Roy was smart he would have brought someone like Michael Carrick or Tom Huddlestone. Someone who would have the ability to keep the ball with Gerrard.England have also been very unlucky as well. Think they'll get a point against Italy but for them to beat Uruguay your needed the likes of Glen Johnson to have a superb game but I think he's a liability and will be exposed. Think they'll do well to get out of the group. The only place to be
bababoom 4,478
A lot of people here overrating Italy and Uruguay, Italy have been pretty poor lately and sure Uruguay have the likes of Suarez and Cavani but you do realise they have the likes of Coates at the back... Italy>England>Uraguary for me, England will get past the group stages, you can quote me on it. Now i'm not saying England are going to win it, far from it, but i do think we can get past the group stages, if not it'll be a massive disappointment. I don't want to sound like a patronising cunt, but It's good see some of the English lads here supporting the team, in this forum and twitter I've come across so many twats who hate England and only support their club... of course i may not like Gerrad, Rooney and co but when they're wearing the England kit i will support them. England seems divided....In Spain, they have all the rivalry, however LA ROJA remains supreme...In England, it seems the opposite.
