BlueLion. 21,491
Kalou was actually very lively when he came on.Of course, people will say we were playing a shit team, but that would therefore depreciate Torres' and Meireles' performances as well, wouldn't it? francozola 2,040
Chelsea striker Salomon Kalou has told the club he wants to be guaranteed more game time before he commits his future to Stamford Bridge.Kalou had appeared set to depart West London when his current contract expires next summer but manager Andre Villas-Boas revealed last week that negotiations had begun with the frontman over extending his deal. The parties need to reach an agreement before January if Chelsea are to avoid risking Kalou leaving for nothing, and the 26-year-old has spelt out his terms, chiefly that he wants to be elevated from the fringe status he has endured since joining the club five years ago."That's what every player wants to have, game time," said Kalou, who once again found himself on the bench in the 5-0 UEFA Champions League thrashing of Genk."Because if you're not playing every weekend, how are you going to improve yourself?"So it's very important to play to improve and to push yourself to the limit."That's what I'm looking for."Kalou, who started the first two Premier League games under Villas-Boas but has been in the XI just once since, added: "We're still talking and hopefully the club is putting itself in a good position and me myself as well."I think we're going to agree on something good."I want to stay, I want to be here. I like Chelsea. I've had a fantastic five seasons here and won some prizes."Chelsea are looking forward to the future and I'm still a young player and I think my future can be here."Kalou took full advantage of a 22-minute cameo last night to net his first goal of the season. The strike capped Chelsea's equal biggest Champions League victory as they showed no mercy to their injury-ravaged ravaged opponents to stay top of Group E.Asked if Genk were one of the worst sides he had faced, Kalou said: "You cannot take away the good performance of Chelsea."We played good football and we scored very early, so that gave us also the opportunity to create more chances."So I cannot say we played the worst team."http://www.skysports.com/story/0,19528,11668_7252198,00.html
termninja 5,290
Let's bench either Mata or Sturridge depending on where Salo likes to play and give him a new 90k a week deal

manpe 10,861
if playing regularly is his condition then fuck him, the transfer fee ain't worth it... luckily the manager doesn't have to take orders from him, so he can easily continue being a benchie after a new contract. and he still considers himself young... lol, he plays like a 35yo. Though I doubt it. It seems he's destined to stay here forever..

manpe 10,861
we have a new coach FFS trust HIS judgementTrust has to be earned. Nobody trusted Grant in such a short period of time, in fact nobody ever trusted him... or Scolari. Although it's looking good with AVB thus far, my trust in him is increasing every week. Tomo 21,751
Come on his new deal is not 90k a week.It would be a significant pay cut which other teams would be willing to match or even better, while we get a decent fee for him at the same time. Tomo 21,751
agreed. I can see the so-call richest club in West London calling Warnock + Kalou is a match made in heaven Warnock needs some media training, the way he openly slates his own players in public is cringeworthy, the fact he is considered amoungst the elite English managers just shows how bad our English gaffers are. BlueLion. 21,491
Perhaps he should look at the last 5 years of his career and ask himself that same question again. Excellent point, I thought he was good in patches during his début season and again during 2009/10 he showed some glimpses of quality. Other than that he's done precious little. Decent scoring record but he certainly has had long enough to prove himself, without any real consequence.

Decent scoring record but he certainly has had long enough to prove himself, without any real consequence. The worst part is, he had a lot of potential when he first came. Johan Cryuff even vouched for him.. He wasted his own potential imo. The club's given him a lot of time to show good on that hype he had when we first signed him. Too little, too late from him, it's time to move on.
