Sir Mikel OBE 4,920
To be honest hes been the most reliable English LB in the league so far this season (Baines as good as he is going forward is the most overrated defensive player on the go) and Southampton also have got Clyne who has been the most reliable English RB in the league at the moment.... even though none of them are in the England team, which is ridiculous given that John Stones has started at RB for England.I was speaking to a mate of mines who is a Southampton fan and his family who are Southampton fans and they have said that as gutted as they were to see Shaw go they reckon Bertrand has been just as good if not better so far this season and they also think Tadic is a better footballer than Lallana and Pelle much better than Lambert. I think we will sell Ryan at the end of this season to Southampton for the £10M or £12M or whatever it is and honestly I think that is a good deal on both halves. We will generate a big fee for someone who cost £150k or whatever it was when we got him at a young age where as Southampton get a pretty experienced player who has played in a Champions League final, the Premier League and also the Europa League. Clyne is criminally underrated. Shocked Arsenal didn't move for him instead of Chambers. Followed him since his palace days and he is a great player. nyikolajevics and OneMoSalah
Kieran. 6,317
I remember that Ryan started. Not 100% sure, though. Ryan didn't start either Napoli tie so lay off the reefer CHOULO19
DH1988 1,348
Ryan Bertrand, the great mystery.. Watch him for Chelsea and bar the odd bad game he always impresses me.But? We often than not concede from the left side in the games he starts, but its nothing like he slipped, or he left his man, its so weird I can't explain it lol.Really want him to have a blinding season and come back to us to prove a point. ZanSnake 1,211
Want him to succeed, but really if Southampton come in with the £10m, i think it wouldn't be that bad of a deal
didierforever 7,349
he has always been a very reliable LB, dont know why people are just realising that.was suprised he dint even get a good run in last season specially since cole had such a bad start. He’s a very good role model. There was one time in the FA Cup final when I’d played most of the games and then got injured in the semis and didn’t get back in the team. We won the final and the team was celebrating. Didier came up to me after the game and asked if I got a medal. When I said no, he gave me his one. It was an unbelievable thing to do. kellzfresh 7,229
is 56 appearances not enough?Should have had even more games, he was the best chance in a while of bringing someone through from our academy and we didn't. It wasn't under straight forward circumstances but it'll be a while before we get that opportunity again.
Tomo 21,751
Should have had even more games, he was the best chance in a while of bringing someone through from our academy and we didn't. It wasn't under straight forward circumstances but it'll be a while before we get that opportunity again. He was unlucky in a sense, Rafa liked heavy rotation in the side, which meant there was enough games for Bertrand (especially with Europa). Jose however builds stability on his back line, he has a core set of 4 or 5 defenders and any in behind literally only have capital one games or when there's injury's to the first choice player's.If Mourinho rotated defence like he does attacking midfield, Bertrand would probably still be here, but he doesn't. kellzfresh and BlueLion.

Styles 9,790
Good luck to him. He seems to have found his level in a decent side capable of competing for a Europa League place.Quite a few Southampton fans believe he's better than 27m Shaw http://www.saintsweb.co.uk/showthread.php?52149-Ronald-Koeman-says-he-wants-to-sign-Ryan-Bertrand-on-a-permanent-deal Fernando

BlueLyon 9,359
So he is better than Shaw. Everyone wanted Shaw here because of abilty and nationality. The price was only thing why certain people didnt want him here. But then you see Bertrand, english, better than Shaw so far and completely free, our youth product. Yet no one here even blinks with eye that we might keep him. Ridiculous how neighbours grass is always greener, and how little actual interest in our youth players is here. I see everyday here people talking about giving youngsters a chance, and now that we actualy have a player who is good (not youngster but academy player still) and no one would like to see him get a real chance here, yet there were people crying and raging when even less prowen Shaw went to United.Wish you the best Ryan, I was certain after that CL run that he will be one replacing Ashley in longterm. And he was never bad or average as people point out. He had maybe one off game due to lack of time, but he was good in majority, despite playing without any kind of rhytm. But Im happy he plays regular football now and showing everyone that he is quality LB. mediator, robdog and didierforever
