Willian was absolutely devastating running through the middle. He's now playing at the level he was against us and the Schalke defenders looked quite afraid of him. Great to see Spurs struggling to create chances while we have him! :D

Schurrle didn't have a great game, but I think it's a bit unfair since Azpi was acting more like a 3rd CB. He's wasn't getting enough support as Ivanovic was giving down the right.

Eto'o: classy finish from a classy guy...god, I used to hate that man so much! :lol:I remember a Schalke player went in on him pretty hard, but he didn't even fall over. All he did was offer the defender a hand up! He looked shocked! :D

Draxler almost two footed challenge on him.. ref thought Eto'o would react differently and rushed over and Sam just picked up Draxler off the ground

Solid, unspectacular win. Did what was necessary and once again showed how deep we are.

I thought Eto'o was MotM mainly because he won the game for us. Willian and Azpilicueta deserve mention as well but for me a two goal performance from your lone striker is hard to ignore.

Willian is definitely working his way into being a lynch pin type player for Jose! Works hard at both ends and likes to defend. I fancy him to keep his spot on the weekend along with Oscar.

Oscar's main attribute today and of late is winning the ball back, he needs to be better going forward his spacing on the pitch is not very good, he often comes to within 5 ft of the ball to receive it and it often leads to congestion and ineffective overloads.

Cech made some timely saves, we got lucky and in the first half and voila, we are top of the group needing only a point to qualify.

Still need to be much better going forward, we lack aggression and the will to make that special pass to unlock the defense. Until we can figure it out we're gonna require some luck or set piece magic to beat lesser teams mainly because they will always sit deep and defend in numbers. I would like to see more balls played into the middle areas of the pitch to allow our wingers time and space to attack without having two or three guys crowding them out.

1. Really didn't expect this result in the first ten minutes, good recovery and a great win.

2. Willian was faultless, clearly MotM by far.

3. Draxler should be sent off; Jones should be sent off.

4. Ivanovic just can't pass/cross to save his life, painful to watch.

5. Cahill and Azpi are starters, at least for me.

6. Boateng is a cocky rubbish player.

Group Stage wrapped up. Hopefully Newcastle away was just a one-off

Ivanovic is rubbish in the final third. I think at some point, Azpilicueta should get a game at Right-back with Ivanovic in the centre

Average performance but wasn't really troubled apart from the horrendous opening 10-15 minutes. And once again, we couldn't really muster any chances from open play when we have the possession and have to rely on luck/smart thinking and counter attacks to score the goals. Worrying. Otherwise, got the job done done and win needed. Now, time to get back to winning ways in the league this Saturday!

yeah. another slow start. you'd think by now, we'd be putting the opposition under the cosh

Good win. Looks like we will top the group with ease this time round despite that first matchday scare. Willian, simply fantastic. Work rate, balance, flair and just a display you want to see from your attacker. Definitely was my MOTM tonight. I am not being critical of Oscar because his scoring statistics look good but he really needs to offer more going forward sometimes. He is regularly praised for his defensive work rate and winning the ball but from our no.10 I would like to see a lot more than being a hard worker. Just look at Willian's performance, that is the quality I like to see going forward from our attacking midfielders. While Oscar has been one of our better performers I have felt that over the season he can offer a bit more bite going forward. I don't want him to be simply known as a player Mourinho likes because he has got a good work rate etc because he has not been the only one guilty of it but because he is right not Mourinho's favoured no.10 I feel for the last 3 games or so his attacking displays have been quite average, don't want to sound too harsh but that is my general feeling. I wish Mata got the chance to play in the no.10 role when Oscar was subbed of but oh well, maybe he will play on Saturday in the no.10 role, refresh things a little.

Ramires and Mikel were very solid in midfield together. Mikel started of sloppy then was very solid IMO. Hope to see these pair more often. I would not mind seeing Lamps start against WBA though. it is a game which I feel Lamps will thrive in as we are likely to have the ball more and he will be useful for these sort of games at home where we are expected to win. When we get back to Upton park I would like to see the pairing of Ramires and Mikel. Cole was rightly dropped tonight and he will know that he can't simply walk in the team no more because his recent performances have been poor. Solid display from Azpi and glad to see Eto'o getting his scoring touch again. Hope this inspires him for more goals continuing with WBA on Saturday.

We have made Schalke look extremely average in the 2 games we have played against them but they have been without Farfan and Huntelaar, which helped us a little but take away nothing from the win. Clean sheet in our last 3 CL games. Looks good!

highlights please !

goalscoring strikers from absence of hazard i believe.

hazard is the kind of players who like to dribble, run into space and he will pass if there isn't room anymore to run into. by the time of that, all defenders already close the empty space between midfielders and strikers.

on the other side, players like schurrle and willian is the kind of players who like to move the ball forward.

no wonder if hazard play, especially with mata and oscar, our strikers are hopeless

No, just no

Hazard tries to dribble and takes out defenders to create space for the strikers, not the other way around <_<

Not the best performance and we looked a little flat until Hildebrand gifted us a goal which Eto'o played no small part in but after that it was pretty much plain sailing as Schalke had to go looking for a goal. The team looked a lot more balanced with two direct wingers and Oscar back in the middle, and Ramires and Mikel looked good in the pivot with Rami venturing forward whilst Mikel sat. Cahill had a fantastic game too and should retain his place at the weekend.

It actually looks like the squad is starting to shape up nicely and there's competition and depth that we could only dream about last season. But that first 15 minutes should've seen us a goal down and we won't score flukes like the first goal every week, so there's still plenty of improvement to be made.

Fair play to the Schalke fans though who were fairly boisterous for most of the night. A couple of their players are right cunts though and that Jones is an awful player.

Good win today. One thing is certain though: we're still lacking width. Everyone of our midfielders wants to cut in and shoot. Personally, I miss Moses. He ran at defenders and loved to create plays on the wings and put in low crosses to our strikers. Great effort all around though.
