Strike 7,511
http://www.independent.co.uk/sport/football/european/xabi-alonso-can-be-part-of-cheap-jose-mourinho-deal-8599978.htmlThe Independent is reporting that Xabi Alonso maybe the player that Jose will smuggle out of Real Madrid. At 31, he's not exactly in his prime but he's a classic Deep-Lying Playmaker who keeps ticking the play over to the attackers. He has vast experience in the Premier League and could be available at a bargain price. Would you like to see him here? Or would you prefer younger, perhaps, Beñat or Moutinho? The Skipper 20,609
Alonso can easily play at the top level for another 3/4 years. I mean look at Pirlo who's 34 this year, prime example. We get him cheap and he could easily be a Makelele esque signing.
Despiadado.Maleante 1,046
I would love this signing cos not only would he fit perfectly in our team it would also piss the shit out of Livershit supporters
TorontoChelsea 4,064
He'll be 32 in November. He might have a couple of years at the top level, but he might not. I'd take him, but there's significant risk there.
LeonDavis23 371
another person with liverpoo connections, remember our recent ones haven't been very successful
BlueSunshine 672
He is the perfect midfielder for us but the mere thought of seeing another ex-liverpool member in our club sickens me.

Jase 43,479
Don't even think he would join us given he still loves Liverpool.

HRiver 1,512
Alonso is superb and this could be a terrific signing, but since he is Liverpool through and through, I cannot see it happening.
The only place to be 11,313
I can't see this happening, but he's still a fantastic player and exactly what we need in our midfield. Obviously it depends on the price but if we're actually looking at developing someone like McEachran then who better could he sit behind for the next two years?I was one of those people who thought Pirlo was 'too old' when we were linked with him four years ago.... Special Juan 28,156
Not any worse than we already have, in fact he would probably be a massive improvement. At the right price, yes.
Spike 12,049
I'd take him in a heartbeat. Forget the Liverpool nonsense, if he really loved the club he would have never left. Of course I'm not saying he doesn't love the club, but probably less so than people think.
Spike 12,049
This is picking up steam. Honestly I wouldn't be surprised either way.https://www.google.com.au/search?q=xabi+alonso&ie=utf-8&oe=utf-8&aq=t&rls=org.mozilla:en-US:official&client=firefox-a#q=xabi+alonso&client=firefox-a&hs=SWq&rls=org.mozilla:en-US:official&source=univ&tbm=nws&tbo=u&sa=X&ei=yyaCUb_FIamUiAemyoGgAQ&ved=0CDAQqAI&bav=on.2,or.r_qf.&bvm=bv.45921128,d.aGc&fp=7ea828eed831900e&biw=1280&bih=
Bir_CFC 3,455
He's already on the decline, has had a horrid season. That said, he'd still be an upgrade over everyone else we have but the price has to be rather inexpensive for this to make sense because he'd surely warrant the most wages of anyone else we can get for the pivot. Special Juan 28,156
So what if he loves Liverpool, we have a bloke in charge here who was waving at the fucking Kop a few weeks back.Alonso would do a job here, lets worry about what is best for the team rather than who they love or don't. ulsterchelsea 3,221
Sooner give Frankie his contract than bring alonso in. Personally I think its a MASSIVE slap in the face to lamps if this happens.
yuvala 2,167
If we can get him at a not too expensive price it will be very good for us.

Personally I think its a MASSIVE slap in the face to lamps if this happens. They're different types of players and Alonso is younger. He's still a fantastic player who can spray the ball around from midfield better than most. People have been saying we should get Benat because he could be the 'next Alonso'...well why don't we just get the original for a couple of years with the plan that McEachran or Oscar takes over after that?
