True but is our left back position a critical issue right now? No. and bertrand has improved.

sure it wouldnt be a critical signing but it certainly wouldnt make the squad any weaker. and although bertrand is hard working i dont think he will ever have enough quality to be a starter. coentrao would raise the level of competition

Did you saw his game with the NT against Holland? He got manhandled by the average, to say the least, Lens. Don't want him here at all. Luke Shaw okay, but not fabio. Please not Fabio.

Jose Mourinho is determined to bring in his former Real Madrid defender Fabio Coentrao to Chelsea this summer.

According to reports in Spain, Chelsea have Portuguese left-back Coentrao firmly on their shopping list as Mourinho looks to build on his title winning squad by adding more strength in depth.

Furthermore, it is understood that current left-back Filipe Luis is looking for an escape route after his £15.8 million transfer from Atletico last summer turned sour.

Coentrao would certainly fit the mould at Chelsea – a player comfortable playing both as a left-back and left sided midfielder and, if necessary, able to be deployed in the a defensive midfield role.
