Exactly, Rafa came in, Torres scored a few goals - he's back everybody thought!

I didn't think.

All he needs now is for the romantic return to Liverpool to go tits up then i don't think even @Backsteet9 can defend him.

In the 90s Blackburn was the first club to win the Premiership after a serious money injection. They called it "winning with a credit card". Credit cards are made out of plastic therefore Blackburn fans were called "plastics". Fast foward a decade and Chelsea are cahsed up and the term had evolved since Rover's glory days. The term is now used to refer to glory hunting fans that only support the club after winning trophies and would probably stop being fans once the club stopped being succesful.

I'm 99% sure that isn't true. I never heard it around that time to be honest and I've always understood it just to mean 'not real'. In those days the United fans were simply called gloryhunters.

Really? That's what I was told. I'll take your word for it.

I could be wrong, but I never heard it around then. There wasn't a huge amount of antipathy around Blackburn's spending because, well they were Blackburn. It's hard to hate them and Jack Walker was a 'local boy done good'.

I actually have a funny feeling it comes from Rafa's apparent comments about the flags, but I could be wrong.

Well, speaking about glory-hunters. Over all these years every time I registered at any football forum, revealed that I support Chelsea, immediately I was called a glory-hunter.

The crowd of envious cunts galloped in & insulted me. I am almost certain, most of you folks experienced the same.

It might be an anachorism on my part. Maybe people only started referring to Blackburn's 'credit card' thing recently.

No plastic was around a lot longer than that - I'm leaning towards Spikes description - as when credit cards were first introduced (showing age) it was plastic money, e.g. Not real - like the 'rubber cheques'... ;)

To be fair words and meanings change with new generations - look at 'gay' for instance, used to mean lively and happy :)

So actually I think you're both right on balance ;)

Ferda might be cooked well. Most likely, he is. Still no need to hammer him even further, is there ?

When a player consistently plays terribly for two years, then the fans have every right to criticize him. I don't agree with insulting him but I can understand why many fans do it. We have to vent our frustration about Torres somehow. He has let the club and every single fan down since he joined.

Excuse me but I never said not to criticize him, did I ?

I just do not feel there is any need to insult him, that´s all folks.

It has nothing to do with slating the blonde goal assassin. We as fans have every right to call this bastard out for not performing, we are the ones that pay £50 on matchday, $50 a month for cable television, get the trains to away games, put in hours of traveling to get to England, wake up at ungodly hours to watch on the TV, just to watch an apathetic blond millionare meander around a pitch for 90 mins .

He cost £50 million pounds initially. He cost £175,000 p/w. He has been here for just under two years and that equal a mighty some of £18.2 million in those two years. Almost £70 million for a guy that has scored an almight 26 goals for the club; that's almost £2.5 million per goal. That's more money that me you will ever see put together. All this money for a guy that obviously doesn't give two fucks about this club or it's supporters. For the longest time he received an incredible amount of support even more support than a lot of great serving players received. And for what?

Over 400 players have scored for Chelsea. Torres is the most expensive of them and he is ranked 88th...You might think that's not too bad but here look at the list: http://thechels.info/wiki/All-time_goalscorers

This guy wheres the same number as Osgood and Dixon. Players you can be proud of.

THIS IS WHAT HAPPENS WHEN YOU STAY SOBER!
