Fernando Torres

What if we've put a buy back clause in the deal?! :philjones

It's a good thing if true, isn't it? If he miraculously back to his best, we have an option to buy him back. If he is still shit, then let him be. I don't see any disadvantages of the buy back clause, and I'm serious, look at my face :Goober:

Fernando Torres scores just ONE of five attempts in shooting drill at first Atletico Madrid training session

Fernando Torres is much-maligned for his poor goalscoring record. While at Chelsea, he played over 100 matches, but scored just 20 times.

Now he has returned to Atletico Madrid - his boyhood club, on loan from AC Milan - surely his fortunes will improve...right?

Well if his first training session is anything to go by, perhaps not. In front of the cameras in Majadahonda, at Atletico's training ground, Torres struggled to hit the target - scoring just one of his five headed attempts in a shooting drill.

you can loan the player out after buying him. thats why they bought him. His loan to Atletico is official now for 18 months. We didnt get any fee for him and let him go for free, so that Milan can transfer him to Atletico. In the end, he is off the book and its better for us but Milan surely wouldnt pay any fee for him

its a weird move to make from our perspective (FFP-wise). the last season we included the sales of mata. kdb and luiz and yet got a profit of "only" 20 million pounds. torres cost us 18mil last season (amortized fee + salary) and i think he would cost us about the same amount this season too compared to 9mil if he was just loaned out.

anyways transfermarkt is showing his fee to be around 3mil euros. though i cant find a single source anywhere to confirm it. anyone have any idea about it.

Not weird at all; in fact quite smart. Take the additional 9m hit for this season (can afford it) but free up that commitment for the next year. Only surprise is we didn't do this back in August itself.

Don't want to post in this thread much now hes gone (thank god for that) but apparently Atletico are putting him through a rigorous fitness programme to try and get him back that burst of pace. Didn't we try that? Didn't Milan? Are they high or what?

Also the last 6 or 7 years Atletico have had a relatively great track record with signing strikers and also improving them, this will be interesting but the guy is done.
