BlueLyon 9,359
Longterm hopefuly english player. Nothing gets better to see english youth player to be captain of our club. Terry spoiled us, but I hope if we cant have many english players around, at least have english captain. That said, atm I dont see any english player having captain characteristics and football skill to get that role here. Maybe Cahill, but we will see.Baker, Stones, RLC, but those are all realy long shots.

LDN Blue 7,903
Chelsea have had many impressive results in their unbeaten start to the Premier League season but perhaps the best so far were their two away victories on Merseyside at both Everton and Liverpool. They have something in common too. Nemanja Matic delivered the team talks. Meeting up with him in Fulham at the promotional launch of new racing game The Crew, the suggestion that he might have got a taste for the experience gets short shrift. “No! I don’t like to talk but every game some player has to say something before the game. I hope that I have finished for this season with the speeches.” So what did he say? “I just told them that we have to win this game because it’s very important, Liverpool are a good team and when you win games like this it gives you more confidence for the rest of the season. But with Chelsea you can say what you want, the players know what they have to do.” http://www1.skysports.com/football/news/11662/9589267/nemanja-matic-interview-chelsea-midfielder-discusses-jose-mourinho-cesc-fabregas-and-his-own-role-in-the-team

Nothing biggy about it really. It's a rotation. Everyone that can speak English gets a turn to do the team talk, even the staff. Didn't the physio do it before the match at the Ettihad last season? I was surprised to hear that even the players that don't speak English get a turn! And yeah, it was the masseur and Jose joked that he didn't understand a word because of his Scottish accent. Myself 793
That's the type of thing Arsenal fans were saying about Arteta though..There is a reason most 'successful' captains have similar traits, Matic doesn't fit that mold currently.eh? Arteta is a good leader.
Atlas Lion 1,223
eh? Arteta is a good leader. Not really. His character shows a lot. He lacks grit which ultimately sets him apart from the rest of successful captains. Not to mention he carry's an emotionless aurora around him. MichaelDance 552
Cesc is who I think will be the next captain.
MrBlueGuy 1,552
Matic or Cahill for me, maybe Dave or Fabregas if they show over the next 2-3 years they are ready for it. Hazard is an outside bet too, but unlikely.
CHOULO19 24,332
Aside from JT, the natural leader on the pitch in the team now is Cesc. Irrelevant who you decide to hand the arm band to.

Yep, and it's pretty obvious. A few days ago, Luis said the same thing: that Cesc is the team's leader this season.

Seems a bit shy and awkward.
different level 1,056
I don't want to think about any future captains while JT is around, but have to admit the ex gooner looks like a natural leader and is becoming increasingly influential in the team.
