And had good jump on him. IMO phyisicaly Azpi will never get close to Puyol, but yeah he could develop his defensive awarness even further, making him world class defender (if he isnt already) Blue-in-me-Veins

But they both share that wonderful aggression and determination. the wes
lucio 5,418
maybe if azpi works on the bench press every day, Puyol's chest was pretty immense

Special Juan 28,141
Im bumping this thread and mentioning this guy because today he did a lot of fucking brilliant donkey work. He tracked, he covered and he just did everything to an absolute rule. I said months ago we need the balance of right foot on right, and a left footer on the left to give a balance and fluency to this team....We have got it now. guddy6969

Azpi is essentially playing three positions - CB, FB and DM. When we defend he covers the central to right area wherever he is needed, so a full-back and central defender in one. When we attack he pushes up from the defensive line to bridge the gap where a defensive midfielder would normally operate, recycling and helping retain possession, keeping things nice and tidy while our two b2b midfielders go forward. He is our organizer, I believe he is key to making things work so efficiently at the back. His passing numbers show that he is the focal point of building play from the back and making sure the ball keeps circulating until it reaches the dangerous areas.    Mufassir08, Hybrid Angel, Amblève. and 2 others

MrExcalibur100 7,124
The change in formation and personnel means we now have the fastest backline we've had in a very long time. A welcome change from Ivanovic and it hurts to say, JT. The recovery is great. One of the reasons why teams are struggling to get in behind our backline. kellzfresh and Sideshow Luiz

Popular Post! DYC. 7,542 Posted November 26, 2016 Popular Post! Share Posted November 26, 2016 Azpilicueta is perfection. He was made for this position. Popular Post! Pizy 18,928 Posted November 26, 2016 Popular Post! Share Posted November 26, 2016 Best overall defender in the league for me. Nearly unbeatable 1 on 1 and positionally phenomenal. Great football brain. Only weakness is something he can't control which is his size. Like today a few times when Harry Kane was just too big for him physically. you see opposition manager try to isolate their tall strainer on Azpi nearly every week but so far no joy. 11Drogba, Hybrid Angel, TheIceMan and 8 others
