The Skipper 20,609
He is going yo be 23, the no.1 no.10 for chelsea so he needs to put in performances which are good enough for that responsibility irrespective of if he was bought for 1mil or 25mil or 50mil. How difficult is that to understand. Not difficult at all... No one disagrees with that. You're basically repeating exactly what people have been discussing about over the last summer regarding Oscar... Which is why it's bizarre you're debating it now because people have been saying this from the beginning. I also believe that Oscar needs to step it up this season and have said on numerous occasions that this is IMO his 'make or break' season, but that doesn't mean I can't commend him for doing well in the 2nd half. What are you even trying to argue now? You're trying to throw points across that no one is arguing against... Your original argument was that Oscar was 'pathetic' and embarrassing etc, people called you out for it and you continued to try and bring completely irrelevant points in to try and back your arguments up (irrelevant in the sense that it's already been discussed and no one necessarily disagrees). Comparing Oscar to Torres is absolutely laughable, how one can even comprehend that in his mind is hilarious. Just let it go man. hjperdeath, Beepu, Barbara and 1 other

Popular Post! Muzchap 8,966 Posted August 25, 2014 Popular Post! Share Posted August 25, 2014 Sigh can we lock this thread for a few days until people get some perspective...As I mentioned earlier it's impossible for a player to be amazing for 90 minutes every match - what we are going to get this season is 15-20 minute spells where the magic happens and the remaining minutes spent defending and trying but not achieving much.I think this is fair - what I would like to see is that value growing to 25-30 mins by the end of the season - that will be real progress.Yes Oscar was poor, so was Hazard, Matic and Fabregas - BUT they all turned it round second half.Ramires and William came on to tired legs and I like that - their pace really hammers home any advantage we have on the counter.Let's support our players for a change - why do we always need a scapegoat for every performance? zolayes, The only place to be, Barbara and 6 others

Tomo 21,751
Which regular starter in recent times has been as inconsistent as oscar after torres? How many regular starters in recent times were in the team as a regular starter in there early 20s? Hazard, Robben, Oscar, Mikel is all that I can think off for the Roman era off the top of my head.its what we can expect from young players, you are a big advocate of giving youth a chance aren't you? If we start doing that more often (whether thats academy or from abroad) then expect some more cases like Oscar because there will be lots. Chelsea? 892
Based on what? You must have really low standard and easily impressed. So you would put him in the same bracket as iniesta,Silva, reus, robben, bale, muller, ozil,di maria, James, hazard et al?if he played like he did in the first few months of last year i would consider him world class. especially if you add his defensive abilities. is he a player I would consider world class? no, overall; his game hasn't even been good to play for Chelsea since he came here. But from his form at Brazil (before World cup) and the little flashes he's shown in a blue shirt, I think he has world class potential. and if i compare oscar to the guys you listed: iniesta,robben,balehazard- Oscar will never be as good as these guys but he doesn't have to. I consider Mata World class and he'll never be as good as these guys eitherSilva, reus, muller, ozil,di maria, -- theses guys are all better than Oscar, but aren't exactly miles away from Oscar on form either. especially if you consider Oscar's defensive wrokrate James, -- only seen him at the WC idk much else about him. jeronimo 130
So what??? He can play 20 good minutes in 8 months. Cant u just see the positives.Who cares if he had a bad 8 months. Yeah he had a bad first half but so did everyone else. The only thing important is that he is starting to perform now. If you're going to keep dwelling on his past, what about the first half of last year when was brilliant? Barbara

He is a differebt type of no.10. He has 2 goals and 2 assists this season. But even though he dint assist last match, he was good in thr 2nd half. His link up play and his contribution to the attack is his strong points imo. But he has been poor on that too. He does his headless chicken act most of the ganes and gets by on the "workrate" argument. But considering the role he has got and the kind of players he has replaced and our on the bench for him, he should be doing a lot more contribution to the attack than he currently is.But co

The lack of Mikel and Torres means, the blame has to fall on someone even after a 2-0 win. That's how the clock ticks. BlueLyon
Special Juan 28,141
We shall decide when things need locking up. Right now it hasn't descended into the Lampard thread just yet but I was watching things carefully last night in here and it was becoming close.Remember this, keep on track, don't attack people because of their opinions and be civil. This will remain open for now but myself and other staff members will be watching closely.Thanks. CHOULO19, hjperdeath and Muzchap

Popular Post! The only place to be 11,313 Posted August 25, 2014 Popular Post! Share Posted August 25, 2014 I'm not a Torres fan and I'm not a self righteous, hypocritical doofus either. You can't bash Torres and mikel then turn around and condemn people for doing exactly the same thing. But you are a hyprocrite. Anyone who has read your posts can see that. You bash the club for not selecting young players but then when we utilise someone like Courtois, you deride him as 'flavour of the month'. I've been critical of Oscar but he's clearly being used in a new role this season and he needs patience....something you don't have despite wanting young players to come through. That is a hypocritical stance because the one thing young players need is patience. As for comparing him to Mikel and Torres, Mikel has been here for 9 years. He is who he is. Torres was bought as the final product. Oscar was bought for his potential and he's still only 22! He carried the team at times last season, but he was also very poor for a lot of it. Now he's playing a different position with Fabregas taking over a lot of the creative tasks for the team...and he's got 3 assists in 2 games.Despite that our first goal came from an Oscar pass that was world-class. It was exactly what you've been wanting. He also hit the post and put in a tackle in the first-half that stopped a Leicester break from a corner. Give him time....exercise some patience and maybe even admit when you're wrong. Here, I'll hold your hand through it. I was harsh on Oscar but so far he's started doing some of the things I want to see with him so he deserves a pat on the back but also encouragement to do more. hjperdeath, Muzchap, zolayes and 3 others
