We shouldnt break the bank for him...there are plenty of full backs who have same potential, maybe even bigger.

There is one reason, Shaw is english and I REALY want to se english player in our starting eleven in next years, Lamps, Terry, Cole are leaving and we will need few replacements. One of Shaw/Barkley/Lallana should definately be bought eventualy.

Another reason why to bring Shaw is because of Mou way of playing football. Getting someone like Moreno might mean we got top prospect at LB, but I doubt he is proper full back for Mourinhos system. Shaw on other hand, is english and will probably learn tactical approach much faster than any spanish/brazil full back IMO (Azpi is one of few exceptions).

But still, there are plenty of players who might turn even better, not english but cheaper. Rodriguez, Alex Sandro, Bernat, Moreno, De Sciglio, Filipe Luis, Coentrao,...

It all depends on what Mou wants; I think Moreno would work brilliantly with Hazard, but I doubt he is suited for Mou. I doubt any young LB is suited for Mou. Im sure Jose wants defensive stability and will look for either Shaw (for logical reasons) or some experienced LB ala Coentrao/Filipe Luis.

According to The Guardian, the £30m, £100,000 p/week to United deal is almost done.

Once official (IF), I expect loads of comments that Shaw has no ambition and is money grabbing cunt...

It would be real shame not to get him, as he is apparently huge Chelsea fan, but 30m is WAAAAAYYY too much.

This is exactly the situation I knew United would be shoe-horned into now. It's not what I would class as a panic buy but another staunch example from the owners to show the fans they are spending big, and having people like Shaw and Mata as an example. United have set themselves such a bar in terms of wages after Rooney gate, they will now not be able to stop the fast paced train and huge demands from players when it comes to wages.

Honestly, I can't blame him for choosing united. It's his best option, imo, and I'm not talking about the money. He'll be a nailed on starter and start almost every game. The pressure is much lower with no title challenge or CL, but it would still be a massive upgrade on Southampton. We're forgetting that he's still a kid and he can still develop and gain consistency and experience...etc.

I think even if he goes to united this summer, we might still see him in a Chelsea shirt in a few years time.

It's not like he's choosing United, we haven't even made an official concrete offer for him. United are the only ones that have.

I don't follow transfer rumors too much so I have no idea who has or has not made a bid for him, I'm just saying that united would be perfect for him. And if like I read on the past page here a deal with united is close then he would actually be choosing united even if there aren't any other offers on the table atm because he knows and we all know that if he stalls to the summer there will be loads of other offers for him.

I sincerely doubt clubs will be flocking in to match United's £30m offer if he stalls it.

Is there any chance that he refuses ManU and stays at Soton another season? Are Soton only ones who will decide if he is sold and where, or he has any word in it?

Like if we offer 20 and Manu 30, but he tells the board he will only move to us, would Soton sell to us or force move to United, because of more money?
