We might actually lose him this time, there's so much pressure, its not looking good. We need a contingency plan, if we can get Lozano and Bailey then Hazard can go, because if Madrid don't get him now, he'll definitely go for much less next season. 

He's been a great player for us and we'll definitely miss him if he goes.

There’s only “so much pressure” if you start believing every nonsense rumor. Not confident Hazard will stay but it’s kinda annoying that people choose to believe rumors that conform to their fears over reliable sources. Contrary to what’s reported by that le10 sport, the most reliable source on Belgian players has said nothing has been agreed between us and Real Madrid...

This has only been so big of a story all week off the interviews they both gave after the WC, since then, nothing has been said and it's just repeated bullshit, everyone making up fees etc, with just over 2 weeks left on the transfer window, if these where going, surely we would have something more concrete to talk about by now, don't expect me to believe that we will discuss what they want to do when they return from holidays, that gives us what, less than a week to sell and replace them? Can't see it happening some how.

Courtois will only go if we can find a replacement, according to Kristof. But god knows who that replacement is gonna be. There have been some underwhelming names mentioned.

For the record, I want Hazard to sign a new deal. It is looking like he wants this move, and frankly I don't blame him. He has not made a fuss through a chaotic Chelsea time, and he is being a good soldier now. If Madrid wants to offer Asensio + 100-125m I am taking the deal. I am selling Willian to Barca for 60-70m. That puts anywhere from 160-190m in the chest for immediate spend. I am bringing in Milinkovic-Savic(100m), Fekir(60m) and/or Leon Bailey(50m). It resets our team age to all grow together and we can make better use of our academy. Will we win a trophy next year? probably not, unless its Europa. But we will be set up for an extremely bright future.

That is potentially one of the best midfields in the world, Some of the brightest young exciting attackers, and Some strikers with a nose for the goal. This is purely a hypothetical, its more just my thoughts on what we should do in an unfortunate situation.

Ideal scenario would be if Sarri were to convince Hazard to stay and sign that new contract with however much wages he asks for and maybe even containing a 'reasonable' release clause (in the €150M ballpark) for foreign clubs next summer. Kind of like Griezmann with Atletico last year, and as it turns out he ended up not even wanting to move when the time came.

That way the club would get to enjoy Eden for at least another year without having to worry about losing him for peanuts next year, but it would be with a written guarantee that the club wouldn't stand in his way if he still wanted to go this time in 2019 as long as someone paid the clause.

But IF he's sold this summer, the next couple of weeks are crucial. Bailey, Brandt, Lozano, Pulisic, Dembele would be where I'd look for a replacement and get one (or two) from that bunch, depending on who's available.

Exactly. Isn't the first time and won't be the last time we lose a top player. 170M if it is agreed, is a great deal for us if we reinvest it correctly. Which has to be done now. Fair enough there aren't many Edens out there but personally there are more than enough attacking players in the world to find someone who could grow into something special.

I think he'll stay and sign a new deal. Like you say it's worth the risk. Right now it would put us in such a poor position should we sell him now. 

The style we're currently looking to play fits him perfectly and most of Hazard's frustrations we've seen or heard have been because of our negative hoofball tactics (especially in big games)

Should also add that if Madrid don't have a replacement for Ronaldo by then, they will not be in as strong of a bargaining position as they are now. Their fans want a big name to come and the club may very well be desperate to sign a huge name. That means if Chelsea play hardball again next summer, Madrid could be forced to look somewhere else because I doubt that they will wait 2 years to replace Ronaldo.

It's also worth considering how sought after Mbappe will be. The World Cup has only increased his star status and if he has a big year this upcoming season, Madrid may do everything they can to obtain Mbappe. I have a feeling that if Hazard doesn't leave this summer, he will stay because Madrid will go after Mbappe or even Neymar next summer.

There's a lot of upside to selling him next summer.

1.  Mbappe is about to be the main man at PSG.  Neymar might not like that so much.  Neymar and Madrid are a match made in heaven, they should just get a room together, already.

2.  Other clubs can turn his head (if he doesn't sign a new deal).  His price won't be terrible if Barcelona + Madrid both want him.

If we do sell him this summer, I hope to god that the club have been lining up deals.  Nothing like getting a cash inflow and everyone's price goes up.
