Well said mate the most stupid stat is passes completed when half of these will be back and square passes. Football is a simple game that gets totally over analyzed. The average footballer is as thick as shit but fans hang on there every word yet all they do is talk in cliches and soundbites. People think Jamie Carragher is a top pundit but look at the sort of man he is spitting at a young girl because his team lost it's pathetic.

I just cannot understand people start critisizing the best player in our squad for many many years!! It's been since Zola that we had such a gem.

The only fact you're basing on is that he doesn't have the stats like Messi/Ronaldo AND that he should have because he should be as good as them. 

This is just ridiculous. Enjoy the fact we have a brilliant player as Hazard in our Squad as long as we can instead of whining! 

 

Time for Eden to move on! Surrounded with players of better quality, I'm pretty sure he will deliver better STATS (for those who only tend to watch this instead of in Stadium delight!!).

ps: oh yes I'm Belgian. So probably will get those BIAS remarks. But I don't think this flag is needed to see what a great player Eden is. It will always be our loss if he leaves.

I don't think people consider him a 'problem' (I certainly don't) and I've said a number of times I'd be more than happy with Hazard committing long term to Chelsea and us keeping him.

But it has to be brought into question that in a period which has easily been the most important of our season with so many big games (and longer term ramifications for those results) he hasn't performed anyway near the level that he should be. That has been an issue because he is our most naturally gifted player and our most potent attacking threat when playing well. 

People are discussing stats and that's all fine and well, but I can see just watching the game that he isn't playing to his usual level. When he's playing well, he will go searching for space and the ball and will be far more direct in his general play and that hasn't been happening recently.

People aren't saying let's get rid of him like with 75% of the other players pages but I think people are simply questioning his recent performances and why there are inconsistencies to his game where he can go a stretch of games not playing very well. Unfortunately it appears on this forum that this isn't possible.

Yea listen, Eden is by far our best player and I appreciate every gane we see him wearing our colours. All I am getting at, is that he isn't performing as well as he has done in the past in my opinion and has alot more to do before he can be considered top 5 in the World.

I'd be more inclined to argue the point about him being our best player to be honest. Kante is both more consistent and produces more expected performances than Hazard IMO, I also think Hazard has had a very middle of the road season.

Regardless, he isn't consistent enough, period. While Hazard wasn't one of the worst players on the pitch on Sunday, his work rate was questionable. He is supposed to be one of our leaders yesterday, and I only saw Kante and Azpi behaving like leaders.

As it turns out, he created more clear chances than anyone else in the PL this weekend. Despite him being far from his best and the team being off. Even when he's supposedly playing shite like on Sunday he's still in or around the top off most of the positive attacking stats, so this notion about him being inconsistent doesn't really add up.

Aren't you contradicting yourself a little, Tomo? You constantly mentioned how stats - notably the goals scored and assists - shouldn't be used to judge Hazard's contribution but here you are, using stats from one match to defend him.

He does need to leave as things have gotten stale. That being said I think the short term behavior has finally caught up and unless a manager is brought in to foster youth development and long term development of the club things are going to be difficult for quite some time.

I think different sites define the same stat differently, it would make sense because a lot of the stats are based on subjective views of who is recording those numbers (for example: a short sideway pass 25m from goal to a player hitting a shit long-shot at goal shouldn't be considered a chance created, but many sites do record this). Also, we didn't even create 6 chances in the whole game.

What I find surprising on that EPL site though is that he has only given 2 through balls. That's kinda bad for a creative player.

Do you know how many times morata or costa made runs behind the defense only to be ignored by hazard passing sideways to moses? His creativity all comes from his dribbling then cutting back for kante/fabregas to shoot.

While KDB puts a pinpoint cross/pass for the strikers to score, hazard dribbles then cuts back for the DM to shoot from distance and gets a lot of chances created stats for it.  

Ive always said hazards creativity all stems from his dribbling, he needs to get his head up more and spot runners in behind. If he stops dribbling, he can hold the ball under pressure, he can switch play sideways to moses, but he cant create proper chances without his dribbling.

He never stood a chance IMO. Hazard cant replace bale's goalscoring, he's not a striker to replace benzema, and he cant replace ronaldo's hunger, leadership, desire and goals.

The only position he'll be there to replace is isco and he's a Spanish starting National player. He'll be difficult to drop. Which means a huge amount of bench time for hazard. And he's already 27.
