The only thing Luiz got last season was form. He does it every year: Brainfarts at the start of the season, picks up form afterwards, beast by the end of the season.

luiz was poor in the start of the season. atleast until november u wuld have said that he has had a pretty average season. it was after rafa's appointment that he shot up. and it was majorly his performances in the mid that caught the eye.

i remember people hoping for this line-up to start. goes on to say a lot about luiz and his best position.

now dont get me wrong, i feel luiz is a wonderful player. his ball winning, on the ball runs and passes are simply something that no CB in the world can have. but are these enough to compensate his lapses in concentration. also again, i am being so critical cos i have read some very exagerating remarks about luiz in the thread. luiz will be our no1 defender and our captain and so on and so forth.

I hated Luiz in midfield personally, never sat right for me (i hated Ivan at CB too, always preferred him as a RB), press him hard enough in the middle and he will lose possession. His ball playing skills are an asset from CB because no one is tracking him.

presonally i feel iva is a much better CB than RB. no pace, never closes down the crosses. but he has the perfect mould for a strong CB.

also luiz looked good. strong tackler and more impressively had a nice read of the game which impressed me the most when he played as a CDM. anyways it seems we dont agree on anything at all.

He does ok at centre back, but i remember under Ancelotti, he was the best right back in the league, one game that sticks out was Arsenal away (when we won 3-0) Arshavin was one of in form players around and every 'expert' predicted him to rip the 'makeshift centre back' apart, but Ivan marked him out of the game and rendered the Russian anonymous

I still don't understand why people say Luiz is a liability because Alan Hansen and co say he is. If he's that much of a liability he would've been sold a long time ago and Cahill would've started ahead of him many more times - but why doesn't that happen?

give away a stupid goal like he did against everton and then perform brilliantly, i would rather take just a good solid performance of not making a mistake and just doing the needful. its not a stupid argument. its a fact. defenders' life is not easy. 89 minutes and 59 seconds of out-of the -world play can go to crap if u do something stupid in the remaining 1 second. cos it will always lead to a goal.

Ppl who say Mats Hummels is any better than Luiz.. are stuck on this the grass is greener on the other side.. As many have said Luiz first poor performance all season and probably since last season and some of you guys want his head.. Everton goal Luiz is blamed but when watching the break down of the play 3 players ball watching Luiz being the only one alert to the danger of a striker on the top of the box so left his shape but there was still 3 defenders in the box marking two strikers even with him leaving his position, now hindsight the ball gets played to the top of the box no one is there Luiz gets called out for not stepping out.. And for the Norwich goal which one of you would have thought JT would have lost that aerial duel cause I know I didn't think he would have and I am sure Luiz was thinking the same thing..

If the man can show World Class form 9 games out of 10 or even 8 you don't get more quality than that anywhere.. I'm not surprised that the media still gets at Luiz after his first season here but for our own supporters who watch him all the time to think the way the media does is very sad..

Yup holland did say players were in bad shape. They seemed genuinely worried about the form of the players coming from intr break.

With that said-focus/composure is the area he has to work on. He does seem to perform better in big matches, and loses focus at times esp playing at home.

The goal was a misunderstanding between him and Cech and misjudgment from Luiz, but you weren't talking about the goal alone, were you? You were talking about the whole performance which wasn't up to his standards because he was slower and less sharp than usual because of the international break.

Cech had nothing to do with it, 100% fuck up by Luiz. I love Luiz, he's strong and amazing but seriously, shit like that is gonna cost you your spot in the team. It's something he can improve on easily and for his own sake I hope he will.
