Yes but the thing is not the first time, if you keep reading the article it says 

The number of interactions between United States and Iranian military vessels regarded by the U.S. Navy as unsafe or unprofessional has increased this year, compared to 2015, a defense official told the Wall Street Journal.

It's not just a one thing, but many incidents. And the president is like nothing.....

is a strait between theGulf of Oman and the Persian Gulf. It provides the only sea passage from the Persian Gulf to the open ocean and is one of the world's most strategically important choke points. On the north coast lies Iran, and on the south coast the United Arab Emirates and Musandam, anexclave of Oman.

Yeah, it is partly in Iran. In fact, the word 'Hormuz' comes from Persian.

Now, I'm sure you know where the united states is, which leaves the obvious question: What the fuck are their battleships doing so close to Iran?

If Iranian battleships were this close to any US coast, do you think they would simply be 'harassed'?

Iran has a deep mistrust of the US, and with good reason.

Prime Minister Mossadegh, democratically elected in 1953, was very popular in Iran. However he got a bit fed up with British (BP) and American corporations taking the oil and natural resiurces. He had the temerity to suggest nationalising Iranian oil for the Iranian people.

Eisenhower and the CIA organised a coup to overthrow Mossadegh, and instill the friend of the West the Shah. He tortured and murdered thousands with his police, and the oil flowed to the West again

The later Iranian revolution, where you get extreme Iranian Ayotollah religious politics, was a result and backlash of direct US and British intervention.
