Blue Gino 377
If RLC wasn't an academy player, he'd be getting a lot of "sell him or loan him" stick. Other than being big in stature what does he excel really well at to argue giving him a spot in the starting eleven? He can't even beat out Matic or Oscar who both STILL look like shit. The striker experiment didn't pan out, what next, compete with Terry and Cahill? The club market him as the jewel of the academy and frankly he doesn't deserve any of it tbh and I think the club is afraid to loan him out after all the hype for fear of egg on their faces. He's gonna rot on that bench and get loaned out in January is my prediction.
Chelsea_firstlove 178
I'm sure Solanke and Abraham are better than RLC as striker. Why don't Conte give them a chance?

He's in every single photo shoot, fans event, PR stunt...etc. He was 'chosen' to end the "since John Terry" line that everyone uses. The problem is, this was under Jose, and now he does not fit ANYWHERE in Conte's 4-4-2. THIS is exactly what I and many others mean when we talk about the importance of some sort of managerial stability for youth integration. Now, for me, keeping him here while we insist on play this system, is only going to hurt him. A loan is needed for him, maybe even selling with a buy-back clause. But I know that that won't happen because the board has A LOT riding on his success here. So instead, he's most likely going to stay here, get next to no minutes, get loaned out mid-season to some PL club who don't need him, before he starts being loaned out to championship clubs while his value rapidly falls until we sell him for next to nothing. Perfecto!!! To his defense, guess he was just at the right place ... at the right time (just hope he makes use of this opportunity)
Special Juan 28,141
This clubs fascination with a square peg in a round hole is fucking stupid. RB' at LB now RLC as a forward, please stop this complete load of shit. Essien19
gadget 126
Jeez a few poor pre season games and people want the kid hung. Not a striker and formation does not suit him, but if good enough he will find his way in/force Conte to change formation, he's got a lot of potential and showed that for England u21s but does need to step up in a blue shirt Previous post is right about the marketing team doing him no favours with all the pressure/exposure
Bir_CFC 3,455
He's got potential but he'll need to become a decent goalscorer. He's def not cut for a box to box role, at least not one where you can rely on him defensively. He's going to have to model his game around Yaya Toure. Obv can't expect him to become that good but he'll have to get somewhat close to Toure if he expects to carve out a role at Chelsea.
bababoom 4,478
Personally think he needs to be loaned out, needs game time and to work on his stamina, it'll do him good IMO. blueblood22 and King11Didier

CHOULO19 24,332
How did he do last night? I didn't watch the match but from the highlights he looked like he had a good first half and decent assist for Mitchy's second.

LAM09 7,056
We honestly can't be going forward with him as a CF and not buying someone/anyone in the next few days. Quite a bit of talk about Gyan coming back to England. I seriously wouldn't be against getting him to fill in for this season.
Pizy 18,916
Not sure Conte really fancies him, tbh. Poor work rate and nonchalant attitude. If he considers him a striker, when will he ever get a look in with Costa and Bats here? Crowded in midfield as well now that Oscar is considered a CM essentially. Not looking good for him is it?
