What will sacking AVB actually achieve?

Just have to hope whoever the manager is in the summer, knows better than to put his faith in them and not sign any players.

André Villas-Boas was forced to put faith in the players he had. The board failed miserably this summer with negociations. He had no choice.

You're probably right, but what about the January window? he had one more chance to fix things.

Yeah, but he isn't faultless. See how these players perform and win matches under a different manager ? You simply cannot lose the dressing room and trust from the players.

This is my main concern. When the honeymoon is over and father time once again starts to rear his ugly head around our most vital senior players, what will the way forward be, and who is the one to lead us? I'm all for enjoying the moment, but I'm not so myopic as to think that our problems have been solved now that AVB is gone and we've gotten some good-fantastic (yesterday being fantastic) results.

Yeah. I'll wait to see how the players react when they will have a tough time against a non-glamourous team. For now it is easy for them to be motivated, there's a new coach and they have a point to prove.

André was there to have a long term impact. Hazard didn't want to move and Lille didn't want to sell, the same thing is also true for Lucas' case, while Willian was too expensive. So there were no points in doing a panic buy. Plus I feel like the board was useless as usual, Roman knows the Shakthar owner and I believe with clever negociators we could have make this deal happen. I wanted him to sign Sergi Roberto from Barça, but can you imagine the commotion among Chelsea fans if it were to happen ? And look at what happened with Cahill. Despite the fact Cahill wanted to leave Bolton and the fact Bolton wanted to sell him, it took us more than two weeks to sign him, and we had to overpay him (fees and wage) to make the deal happen.

Yeah, but he isn't faultless. See how these players perform and win matches under a different manager ? You simply cannot lose the dressing room and trust from the players.

A bad mood an unwillingness can ruin the biggest projects.

You have to see further than your nose... We will only be able to draw conclusions when the honeymoon will stop.

This topic was full of bullshit. Changes are needed in the summer, and the result does not change that, but AVB wasnt a pivotal character to do so, as the guy was suggesting.

Getting rid of AVB was the first thing before making the changes.

AVB was an awful manager and he deserved the sack, its more easy to accept you people supporting the stupid portuguese were wrong.

Our last three results are less about what sacking AVB has achieved and more about what pandering to the players has.

It annoys me that plebs like Henrique sit here smug as if they knew this would happen. The reality is we all did, but I think most of us can see it's because the humps pulled their heads out of their asses as soon as they got what they wanted, which has very little to do with AVB's quality of management.

I think a lot of people were upset for AVB when he got sacked, (I was too, because he seemed so committed) but what most of you fail to realise is that the guy is still loved at Porto, is still young and will be back in club management soon.

In short, I'm more worried about US..Avb represents another failed investment and has probably halted our progress (namely transition) for yet another season...like Terry07 said, time to move on.

I hope young managers aren't discouraged by this. I put the lack of respect down to Villas-Boas' lack of playing career, if, say, David Beckham became a manager right now at 37 he'd get a world more of respect. That is until his players find out what an idiot he is.

Well, today was our biggest game of the season so far.

Even though, there weren't any sense of urgency to go forward or urgency in the passing game. It was a lifeless performance. No players, bar very few exceptions, looked interested about the outcome of the game. They were playing like me when playing in the park with my friends, in a sunny afternoon after a fat McDonald's. Even without a manager, this is the kind of encounter for whom you motivate yourself. Furthermore, we got rid of the "Problem", but nothing has changed. Actually, sacking André Villas-Boas did achieve fuck all, as there is the same motivation within the squad, and the players are still shit.

I am feeling like players were just trolling.

squad overhaul should of happened last summer; now we have to do it this summer without cl to offer.

The only way this isn't a disaster is if roman can overlook the 40 mil loss and not sell the club(dont argue with me on this, with his courtcase the most important he dont give a **** about chelsea this season) and reinvest.

Replace essien with tiote. Bring in willian for lw, bring in a rightwinger(maybe hulk may come if you offer a ton, you have to to offset no cl). Buy a bloodly rb. Tell the oldguard to fuckoff.

Make a clear decision on cf. Its either torres the main man or sell him and buy falcao. A buy a bloody midfielder. And find a proper coach. At this point benitez is a great option. We only hate him cause he was lfc`s coach. The guy seriously OVERACHIEVED with the budget he had at lfc. Imagine if he had 250 mil to spend.

You must have been a dirty red scouser in your previous life. Seriously look @ these numbers:

TOTAL BOUGHT: £229,340,000

TOTAL SOLD: £151,000,000

TOTAL NET SPEND: £78,340,000

That is Telly Tubby's transfer record @ loserpool. I am surprised you didn't say that ball crossed the in line in 2005 vs CFC <_<Dude bought players more than you buy chips @ your local market. And the question I have to ask was it worth it for l'puke??? Look @ where they are now & I haven't even brought up the catastrophe @ Inter Milan. No, you can keep the fat waiter on your team. Don't bring him anywhere close to mine
