Kevin de Bruyne

The one issue I have is why he was never tried in the pivot, in the Ramires role with a holding player next to him.
It's quite clear he isn't on the same level as the other attacking midfielders, bar Schürrle who I don't rate but nevertheless brings something unique to the team. De Bruyne doesn't have the speed of Hazard and tenacity of Oscar or Willian, nor the technical brilliance of Mata.
But he does have an excellent range of passing and did play for Genk and Werder in central midfield from time to time, and did quite well. Obviously still had to evolve and grow into that role and especially work on his defensive side... But I guess at Chelsea you really have to be the developped product. You're always expected to be competitive and get few chances to try new things in the season.

I do wonder tho if KDB would've been tried in central midfield when there was a coach here with less of a defensive mindset as Mourinho.

Good luck to him but I don't particularly care. He was never really a Chelsea player and his total contributions on the pitch, despite 250 pages+ of discussion, were absolutely nil. Lots of players come and go. Some people get way too attached to theoretical potential rather than appreciating what players actually do for us.

He was never really a Chelsea player? He stayed because Mourinho wanted him to. Have some respect. You clearly have a distorted view on his ability, maybe it'll take a year or 3 and 40 million pounds to realise the mistake we made.

To the people blaming his failing on lack of work ethics and fight, he trained on his days off and lost 3kg and 2% fat. You don't do that by slacking.

Daily Mail - not surprisingly - has a very more 'complete' version of his interview than the other channels I've read - a series of jabs on Mourinho. I don't know what to think because some of the lines among the statements were released by other channels too... but never trusts DM, that's the first rule in football :P

Anyway, he's clearly lost his joy as he's said and I think there isn't much you can give if you don't have the passion when you do have a chance. It was an unfortunate situation, bad timing, but he's a quality player.

Wishing him the best and hopefully he'll fulfill his potential.

can't say I think much of your attitude .. I think most will feel it is a pity things didnt work out . Some people actually like our players .. you seem different.

Jabs on Mourinho? Funny, because I just read a Belgian newspaper that interviewed Kevin saying he liked Mourinho very much and had no problems with him at all.

I hate English media, despicable

Good luck to him. Shame really that it didn't work out for him here. I was really excited when we first signed him, sort of indicated that change in style we wanted to proceed. Thought he was a really "Guardiola Type"...

Probably mentally not ready for the demands of being a Chelsea player. Signing Willian was probably the end for him here.

Hopefully he will set the Bundesliga on fire and score a few against Bayern!

"I see you didn't include any of the quotes of him praising Mourinho then? But what would you expect from an article written by Matt Barlow (United lover), best of luck in Wolfsburg Kevin!"

No. He was never really a Chelsea player. He started 2 games outside the League Cup for Chelsea. He played 9 games in total. Do you know how many players have come and gone over the years? Our history is filled with players who came and went. I love Chelsea and support their players, but not every single player who plays a game for us deserves our lifetime admiration. He contributed nothing to Chelsea on the pitch. It's like being attached to Stoch, Ben Sahar, Quaresma, Borini, Maniche, Jarosik, or any number of countless players that come through Stamford Bridge that did nothing . I wish them luck, but I don't particularly care. They never did anything for the club to warrant any positive feelings or loyalty. Even someone like Meireles who had a very brief and mediocre time at Chelsea will always get my respect because he was a regular starter at Chelsea and played a key role in our Champions League win. You see players like Kalou, Mikel, and Malouda who led Chelsea to trophies, who played an important role on our team for years get nothing but opprobrium.

I'm sure all those you mentioned had 5 class competitors for their position. The boy sacrificed 6 months without football because Mourinho made him believe he'd play a role in this team. He never whined or complained, which is extraordinary to be fucking honest. That alone deserves respect, but you don't care and that's fine lad.

This is what happens when we change managers too often, this is why we need a stable long term manager.

Very good player but just doesn't fit our new system, which is fine by me. I am all for whatever Jose wants to build, not favoring players for whatever reason.

Good luck to him
