By the way, because of the brilliant displays I saw him produce while on loan back at Genk, I became, and remain, a huge KDB fan. So much so in fact, that I then watched over 20 KDB games for Bremen as well as every Belgian international for 2 and a half seasons leading up to, and including, the world cup. During that spell, my own view was that he had many more disappointing games than good ones*. I watched those games as a fan, determined to be pleased by what I saw. More often than not however, I was not pleased. Of course I respect the fact that your opinion differs.

*Particularly for Bremen.

At Bremen he was voted Bundesliga’s young player of the year ... beating a German talent to the award (Draxler). For country he's the most decisive player (especially during the WC2014 campaign) ... if you feel that KDB performs poorly, what do you think about Hazard's performances for country?

While watching all of those KDB performances I was reporting back my opinions elsewhere. Following international matches I almost always reported that KDB had outperformed Hazard. In fact, as I type this, I can't remember ever having felt that Eden put in a better display for the red devils than Kevin had.

I'm aware of the accolades KDB earned playing for Bremen, and the stats he produced there. I can only repeat however that few of his displays with Werder impressed me. I often felt that Schaff would drop him but he never did. If I'm asked to come up with a reason for the difference between my assessment and other, more favourable, views, I would put it down to the honeymoon effect.

There is a phase in every player's career when many people are determined to be pleased with them. A phase when they get maximum credit for what they do well and when anything they do badly is overlooked or excused. For example I read at least one post describing RLC's output last night as outstanding or excellent or something like that. In my opinion, he was nothing of the kind. The pass for his assist was top quality but little else was. He wasn't bad, but, in my opinion, he was certainly not excellent.

Either this is an example of the honeymoon effect or else other people are just better judges than I am. Yer read the posts and yer takes your pick. :)

Mourinho likes players who respond to his motivational techniques, that's why he never succeeds in the third year. You can't push players beyond their limits for a season and expect long term success. You need to know how to build a squad to succeed in the long run. De Bruyne did not respond and got kicked out.

Last season if City had Silva and Kompany injured you would be thinking what a miss. Kompany should be fit for today but Silva is definitely out but to be able to have a replacement like KDB playing in that role is an excellent alternative. Mangale out tomorrow. They will just bring in Otamendi. I was thinking why are City splashing the cash on unnecessary players but now you can see the importance of having a big squad. Even without Silva, I expect them to win today as although they lost last week they actually played very well in the second half and should have taken some of their chances. They have Kompany back which is a huge bonus but I think KDB is going to excel again today. Damn, looking forward to the game though but like I said can't see anything but a City win.

i read her a lot stuff like : Chelsea and KDB were just no match...no problem.

that is wrong.

KDB can play in every team in the world off course. The only thing that went wrong is that Mourinho did not analyse KDB before they met on first training.

It is just a few hours work and he would have seen that he is a special player and give him the trust that Hazard got for example. Hazard NEVER had to fight for his spot while KDB is better!

He did not devellop at Wolfsburg he was already the same player 2 years ago that he is now. Played with the same dominance at the NT and Bremen

Mou and only Mou made a huge mistake here.

Yes, Mourinho did make a mistake.

But i disagree with your assessment about development.

Perhaps not as a player, but as a human beeing.

He has gained more and more experience, his mentality continually changes...

Why do i talk this way?!

Been there, first hand experience.

At that time, De Bruyne was not up to the task, thats human.

We are not robots, sometimes it does not work out, life is unpredictable, maybe thats the reason why it is so great!

Enjoy, live in the present instead of the past.

He hasn't been that good.

Yes he has. Just accept it. Juventus he only came on with 20 mins remaining. Difficult to impose himself. Palace he had a good game and created the best chance of the game. West Ham he was one of the best players on the pitch. Sunderland was the best player on the pitch. For someone who has just joined he has done very well. 3 goals, 1 assists and more will come.
