I agree. We played the 'innocent till proven guilty' card throughout this entire process. Now that it seems he'll be proved guilty, perspectives will be changed.

There is no way I or most other people can tell if he'd actually said something racist to Ferdinand. I never thought the lipreading video was enough for people to go about claiming he's racist, but at the same time, what Adam Phillip and some of the other players said about him doesn't really tell me much about what happened either, although it's good to see them back their captain. Maybe Adam's right in that JT isn't racist, but he could've just blurted it in anger.

In any case, if he turns out to be guilty, there is no doubt he should be punished. Racist remarks like that shouldn't be tolerated anywhere on this planet. And this is a more personal thing, but if it proves to be true, he'll let everyone except the journalists down, and he should give up both England and Chelsea armbands. He already made one huge mistake as the face of this club but still was given a second chance. I appreciate his commitment to the team, but it turns out he actually said it, he will be an embarrassment more than anything else, and I will not back him.

But having said that, I don't believe this was something they should've taken to the court. I don't live in UK, and I don't know what things are like there, but to me, this is something the FA and the club should take care of, because even if he had said something racist to Ferdinand, it most likely would've been of frustration rather than of malice. If he'd just called him a 'cunt,' people wouldn't even be talking about it, and I don't think the fact that he called him a 'black cunt' should make a world of difference and turn this into something the court should be involved in especially when this happened during an exchange of angry words in a heated football match. It wasn't like he'd beat the crap out of Ferdinand like Gerrard did that DJ a couple years ago or like he'd insulted him in public. Like I said, I don't condone racism and will be more than just disappointed at Terry if he proves guilty, but people are making a ridiculously huge fuss about this, and that's not right.

Eventually, truth is not what actually happened but what is believed had happened. It doesn't matter if he didn't say it if the court finds him guilty. He could have never said the word "black" in his life and still be a racist.

Exactly mate, as a black person it makes me feel like shit if i'm honest with you. The thought of probably my favorite Chelsea player ever saying this just turns my stomach. John Terry does not think before he opens his mouth and i think its because of his parents, if you listen to the way his father puts his point across you will understand what i mean. The signs where there in 2001 when he drunkenly laughed at American tourists after 9/11. He is just low class with a lot of money and fame. I will support him but he just keeps putting his foot in it every season with a new fuck up and it just angers me. I just wish he had class like Frank Lampard. I have to keep explaining to my younger brother that its all allegations at the moment but what can i say to him when he gets found out which is inevitable now because the police want to charge him. I would like to clarify for the record that i do not believe John Terry is a racist, i think that is clear, i just think he is a bit silly. He is derailing season after season after season with his stupidity and you cant blame it on the media because with all John Terry seasonal fuck ups you quickly realize that there is no smoke without fire. I'll back Terry until he's proven guilty, but people are taking this with a pinch of salt because he is a Chelsea player, whereas we all want Suarez banned for his comments. I'm not condemning Terry - not yet, anyway. But I won't be comfortable with him being our team captain, regardless of everything he has done for us. I will always support him but I will never again admire and respect him how I previously have done. If Terry is proven to be in the wrong he should be stripped of the Chelsea captaincy and it be given to a true professional.

Disgraceful...even if JT is proven guilty though, I won't believe that he is a racist, just that he said something racistic out of anger. I refuse to believe that one of the biggest football stars in the world and with some much experience has racistic views despite playing with some much black players throughout his career...

if he said it though, he should be punished and he should say goodbye to captain's armband also.

Captaincy, in my opinion, is not just about professionalism. Don't get me wrong, I love Frank Lampard more than any other Chelsea player, but I don't think he's captain material. I agree JT lacks class, but sometimes that's exactly what a true captain has to be to go up to the ref and make his point heard, or push his teammates to give more, or shout at a defender for making a mistake.

Regarding what he potentially said, I don't think he is a racist but rather untactful.

What a way to tarnish a, what's been, successful career with utter stupidity in the last 2-3years. He had it all. Chelsea captaincy, England captaincy, trophies, a great squad, a lovely family & great friends.

Now what? He's been tried left-right-centre. He's always slipping up in the media spotlight & he's causing a great deal of shame to country & club. Yes perhaps the media are quick to lay it on him. But come on, he's the ENGLAND captain. Of course his actions are supposed to be moral. It's not like Rio escaped scrutiny after his missed drugs test & ect.

Beckham was a great England captain. He was accused by that Loose girl for an affair, which was thoroughly denied. Aside from that, he's been an icon in the game. Set up schools around the country, promoted the spirit of the game & remained respectful to the duty of being England captain.

Don't get me wrong, Terry's actually done his fair share of giving back. I still remember the story about him saving his old childhood club Senrab or something. But he knows he's a role model & should've kept his life clean.

Of course he's only human and everyone makes a mistake, however these are levels which are immature & just so easy to get caught out in.

Irregardless of what he's done in the past, I feel that this one incident is perhaps taking things too far...

If he did say it (which most likely seems the outcome) I would say he was just tactless, and a bit of an idiot (not the first time JT has blurted out something) to risk losing his armband.

There absolutely no chance in the blue hell that this incident would make his stature diminish in my eyes, because from what I've seen in the past JT doesn't come close to being a racist.
