DYC. 7,542
Ramires and Cahill signing such long term contracts at 28/29. Preparing for the worst?Good squad player. Blue Colored Sky
Simon1991 233
It sets a dangerous precedent. What's the point of offering 30+ years old players only one-year contracts and offer a 29 years old a 4-year contract? A 2-year deal would have been more coherent with the way of the club in my opinion. Muzchap

Johnnyeye 7,509
http://www.chelseafc.com/news/latest-news/2015/12/new-deal-for-cahill.htmlGreat news, he´s been a massive servant to this club since his signing for 7 million pounds, one of the heroes of 2012, he´s won it all already with us, a real bargain compared to what Everton are asking for Stones, really deserved for Cahill, i wish him all the best and goodluck in the future here at Chelsea, may he have more success with us and becomes a legend too. Popular Post! Jase 43,479 Posted December 2, 2015 Popular Post! Share Posted December 2, 2015 Signed a new contract!http://www.chelseafc.com/news/latest-news/2015/12/new-deal-for-cahill.html?extcmp=SOCIA_TW_ENG_NEWS_CONTRACT Technically, he signed a 2-year contract extension since the previous one was due to expire in 2017. It is a decent decision to keep him - he can be a useful squad player (we can't fill the whole squad with world class players, can we?), is English (fills the HG quota as well) and if we decide to sell him at any time within the next 4 years, we can probably get a decent fee for him. The Skipper 20,609
He's a good player that can contribute to the squad game at the least so it's alright. As Jason also said, it's basically a 2 year extension which I'm fine with. Blue Armour

A 2-year deal would have been more coherent with the way of the club in my opinion.Defenders typically have long shelf lives. Think about it like this: in two years, his contract would have run out, so either the club can renew his contract on probably higher wages or let him go for free. This gives the club a little wiggle room; especially if they ever want to sell him.Besides, he signed a 2 year deal anyway. He had two years left + two added. El P. 1,354
Our policy is to give 30+ players one-year extension. Cahill is 29 (contract to 33 - another English CB John Terry had season of his life at 34). All good. Congrats!

CHOULO19 24,332
He actually had a very good first half but showed in the second why he can't be a starter for a team at the top: His decision making is often championship level. Hybrid Angel 2,130
I've had enough of him. He still backs off against strikers, very amateur. Doesn't he know that at some point you've got to make a tackle? I hope Guus knows all about this fraud before he starts backing off against fucking Zlatan Ibrahimovic. We badly need a proactive defender.
