Frank's role this season should be as an impact sub, second striker, attacking midfielder.

We will win nothing with him in the centre of the park. He doesn't possess any of the skills required to play that role. Every team we play has miles and miles of space in front of our back 4 whenever he is in there.

Is there any other option? sadly no

I know it's become the trend in the past two seasons to blame the pivot, but I actually think Frank was excellent yesterday and so was Obi. The team was playing very well, despite missing some chances, for most of the game until the front four (bar Willian) stopped pressing and stopped doing their job. It was 11vs8 for the last 10 minutes + extra time.

The pivot was instrumental in our attacks earlier on the game and never really switched off.

Lamps- Mikel was not so bad after all unlike the popular belief.

Defensively Lampard was inexistent.

I thought he did well in the first half and the start of the second but got tired as the game went on. Was non-existent during extra time, but tbf so was the rest of the team except for Schwarzer and Willian.

The Football League has confirmed the Chelsea goal scored at Sunderland on Tuesday was Frank Lampard’s and not an own goal. http://che.lc/kzwHu6 #CFC

Lampard's all-time Chelsea record goals total now stands at 209.

Missed the best chance of the game

Yes he did, but that is never the problem with him. He'll still finish well at 50, it's everything else with him that's the problem. A City midfield for us today would have ensured we would have mauled Arsenal and they were pants, down and bent over for the taking. Look at Mikel and Lampard in the starting line up and people wonder why we concede so many and don't control games on the attacking end.
