Lampard will be first choice for all the big games,you do realise who the new manager of Chelsea is? and rightly so .

Jose has already said he looks at the performance and not the birth certificate,my guess is that was in reference to Lampard and he said that he has noticed no decline in Lampard's performance, but he may need more time to recover from matches at his age. And I make Mourinho dead right .

Prolonging Lampard's career will be about managing and planning his involvement, Mourinho says.

"I believe he is the same player (as before), with the difference of, he is 35 and the time (needed) to recover from match to match is not the same for a man of 25 to a man of 35," Mourinho said.

"The role doesn't have to change. What has to change is the way we analyse competition. Before we didn't analyse, before it was 'every match: he plays'. Sometimes I wanted to give him a rest in a Carling Cup match and he said 'if you give me a rest the next match I will not be the same, because I have to play every three days'.

"He can't play 60 matches like he did before, but the quality of the player and what he represents for the way I like to play football is exactly the same."

Mourinho says Lampard, who was rotated under Rafael Benitez last season, accepts that he will not be selected for every match.

Mourinho added: "We have to analyse the fixtures, to analyse the matches, to analyse the week we have and to make a few choices. He's intelligent, he's open, he has a very good relationship with me.

"He knows I know how to do it with players of his age, because at the end of the day we have to be just clever, because the player is the same. Performance is how good you are, not your passport or birth certificate. It's about performance, nothing else."

Im sorry to say this but we look our weakest in mid when his playing. Dnt get me wrong, he offers invaluable experience but at this moment in time I would prefer to not see him anywhere close to the starting 11 maybe super sub like Mou suggested

Another day another goal from Lampard, I have a feeling Jose will be using Frankie in all the big matches ,wonderful talent to be able to score so many goals from midfield as well as working as hard as any other midfielder at the club bar Ramires.

Expect Lampard to still be at Chelsea next season ,before he will use his experience in the pivot ,that is another three seasons before we talk about a coaching role at the club,legends are made not born and Jose knows this,unlike the waiter ,who had to ultimately rely on Lampard to win the Europa League and gain our champions league place,after initially saying Lampard would be free to leave Chelsea in his first press conference.

Yeah, he should be used when games are a little open and the opposition automatically concede the midfield. Otherwise, he's not good enough to control the midfield against top opposition anymore, especially if it's just 2 in the middle.
