He wanted better players (more expensive signings), Juventus refused, so he left. It really isn't comparable to us who regularly spend 30+ million euros on players. People seriously need to stop with this "Conte's gonna leave" crap. without the right market be sure "conte's gonna leave"

cfcs most wanted 657
Don't understand why this club his not learning from it's recent history. you don't need to buy someone just for the sake of making changes. Atleast after Cuadrado, Schurrle, Filipe Luis, Baba Rahman, this club should have learnt it's lesson by now, and now it's Bakayoko. Does that guy even have a single quality Rubin Loftus Cheek Doesn't. But no Rubin Loftus Cheek won't be played, why because he isn't a tested player. Why don't our board just understand, talent doesn't come over night, you gotta develop it, so stop wasting 30-40 million on unneeded players and give those youngsters a chance. They deserve it. RLC is lazy as fuck. That's why he doesn't play regularly. He's not near Bakayoko's level yet. He needs to go on loan to a small PL club like Bournemouth or one of the newly promoted sides where he can play at a decent level every week. Come on, thats like saying we dont need Pedro because we have Boga. These young players have to show their ability first on senior level. I agree we treat youth like product, money makers, and we dont give them enough trust, but I dont think there was one absolutely top class potential player in our ranks since Terry. Just because they are cutting it in youth levels, doesnt mean they will be great at chelsea, but its our fault we dont give them playtime. Many get playtime in lower leagues or foreign leagues with very little success. It would take serious work rate to get less talented player into quality starter for us, however that aint happening because we fill them with money, too much money. And we are not only team. Take a look at barca; how many great talents they had who flopped recently? Xavi, Iniesta, Messi arent great because they got chance, they are great because they are fantastic players. Terry was the same. Who from our ranks would get into our senior squad and improve us massively? Maybe Bertrand. Mceachran flopped on loans, Solanke didnt perform well either, then you have Boga, Chalobah, Feruz,...neither lightened the darkness on their loans, but was rather average or didnt get to play. They need to gain their play time, you dont just give it to them. RLC got quite a few chances, but was rather average. I do like the look of Baker, he got potential and had great loan, now he deserves to get a look by Conte. But overall, our youth is generaly well overhyped. They destroy everything on youth levels indeed, but rarely get some serious performances on senior level, be it here or elsewhere. I never understood why people hype youth so much tho. Most of young players who are brilliant get to first team quickly or get loaned, they dont stay in youth departments. Look at Messi, Mbappe, Lahm. Lahm for example was loaned to stuttgart where he performed well, he didnt just slot in bayern 11. Then he returned after good spell. With our players, almost no one shows anything special on loan, and suddenly we wasted them. If you are good, you are good and you play. The problem might be the clubs we loan to. Vitesse isnt club where you can evaluate their progress. It should be premier league, french league if we talk about very talented players. If someone who is killing it in youth, cant get play time in championship, how the hell will he get it in chelsea or even in PL side. Sad truth is most of our players arent as talented as hyped, add money into mix and you get bleak results. Terry was simply put cleaning toilets at SB, RLC is driving around in mercedes, Ferrari or whatever car and lives in expensive apartment. Mbappe is being driven by his mom to training. Thats the difference.

YorkshireBlue 3,277
Chelsea have made their first signing of the summer but don't plan to announce it until July 1. Standard Sport understands that terms have been agreed with the player, but the club have decided to delay confirmation until the start of next month. Chelsea are looking to make up to six transfers during the window, with players such as Romelu Lukaku and Tiemoue Bakayoko their main targets. Why don't our board just understand, talent doesn't come over night, you gotta develop it, so stop wasting 30-40 million on unneeded players and give those youngsters a chance. They deserve it. The club is using the loan system correctly to a degree because as a big, successful club even young fringe players who won't make it here can still command respectable fees and getting an exposure out on loan only enhances that. In the case of RLC he is too raw and untested at the moment and the club don't have the opportunity to develop and nurture that talent to its fullest because of the pressure of competing for every trophy. He needs to go out on loan for a season or two and gain experience, until then he cannot be compared to Bakayoko who has just won the French league with Monaco and reached the Champions League semi final. Nowadays how many players break through at the top clubs as a teenager without going on loan and gaining experience elsewhere first. Unless they are a truly phenomenal talent or the circumstances force the issue (like United's injury list got Rashford in the team last year) it doesn't happen anywhere, so why expect it at Chelsea? The biggest problem we seem to have that needs development is once these players have been on loan, they have a path into the first team squad. Courtois did it and ousted arguably the greatest goalkeeper in our club's history to do it so it can be done. But others should have over the last few years too, given their performances and experiences gained out on loan - Lukaku, De Bruyne, Bertrand to name a few. I would actually prefer us to buy 4 or 5 top draw signings this season to tweak what we have here and the squad is then 'beefed' up with some of the young lads coming back from loans or who were on the fringes last season - Ake, Chalobah, Christensen, Baker, maybe Abraham. Given the small squad we used last season and the extra games this season, they will get chances if they're around the team and it will then boil down to (1) Conte being prepared and confident to use them, and (2) they have the right attitude to take their opportunities. akgw13

I agree 100%, a few big signings then use the youth as depth is the perfect plan. The most important point you made is (2) They have the right Attitude to take their opportunities. They need to be open to working hard and earning respect as opposed to being given it due to them being Chelsea youth players. We seem to have strong willed players with Ake, Chalobah, Lew Baker, and Christensen so I hope they can prove they belong and show Conte they are worth keeping. Abraham for me needs one more Loan to a PL side then integrate him back in. Spot on message though sir

Spot on message though sir Thanks mate, the one thing I would say about Conte, and I'm saying this without an idea of his track record, is that he played football and reached the highest levels. That doesn't necessarily mean he's going to be a top manager but I do think it helps him to understand the time, patience and understanding needed for younger players to develop and how best to motivate and help them, quite simply because he's been there and experienced it himself. He knows the struggles and he knows the hard work and dedication that is required, especially with the greatest respect he was a fairly limited player but had the work ethic and will to force his way to the top and continue improving. This is why I always feel that Mourinho generally struggles with developing younger players because unless they are real top drawer and would command a place in the team already, he hasn't got the time for them to develop because he never had those experiences himself. A lot of people seem to think that if a player hasn't come through by the time he's 20 then he won't ever but time's have changed. Players careers at the top are generally lasting longer and as a result more patience should be shown with some of these players. As you said with Abraham, if he went on loan again and developed further it only benefits us. Lukaku has developed and improved year on year whilst in the Premiership. As long as Abraham was improving and there was a long term plan in place, what would be the harm in him being out on loan for 2 or 3 seasons in the Prem and then coming into our team a polished and established striker. A fine balance is involved with regards to giving time and patience to young players and that's not just the club but us fans too. akgw13 and Bernard N Y Burgesson

These smaller clubs with too much money are ruining the whole system by signing ok players for giant fees. It's been happening for a long time. The reason is simple; bottom club Sunderland earned roughly double from TV last season (including parachute payments) what Real earned for winning the CL. In fact it was probably more like two-and-a-half times. Our top clubs seldom attract the elite talent so mid-ranking, or lower, Premier League clubs know they have no chance. For them it's not the glamour of Barca & Bayern, it's the hard cold world of midwinter Monday matches, That's where their bread is buttered. It's simply more important for our clubs to out compete Bournemouth and Brighton than to dream of 102,000 at the Camp Nou. They pay elite fees and wages for sub-elite players so they can keep their place around Richard Scudamore's feeding bowl.
