SkySports report £4m. To be honest it's not the worst deal they'll do. He's obviously there for depth, a striker to fill on for when Sturridge is injured. Kind of like when we got Anelka to cover for Drogba.. Lambert's stats are impressive and he's another HG player for them.

I'd keep a worrying eye on Liverpool tbh. They're strengthening exactly where they need to already, Moreno will be a huge asset to them as they've been vulnerable on the left for a while.

We'll have to wait and see regarding their transfer targets, BR won't be a fool though he'll definitely look at bringing in center backs

Wonder how many players we will sign this window. Has to be quite a number. Mikel and Lampard will possibly leave, so we need a backup (maybe already found in Tiago) and top class CM to play alongside Matic. Also Bertrand will probably follow Ashley Cole out, Patrick van aanholt is not seen as an option, so we'd better sign 2 LBs. After Luiz left we might need another CB, even though IMO we should just move Ivanovic in the middle. Also one or two strikers. No matter if we keep Cech or replace him with courtois, we will need a new back up goalie. One or two players that are on loan now might even stay next season, so all in all we could have up to 8-11 new players in the squad next season.

I wonder whether that is healthy for our title bids having a team that still has to integrate. That is why IMO it is not a good idea letting Cole and Lamps go. Both are leaders in and off the pitch, great examples for the youth and whilst Cole still has the quality to start for us many games, I don't Tiago offering too much more than Lampard (even though I really like the way he plays)

It doesn't work like that - we need 8 HG players - U21s don't count at all to begin with. So if we register 4 players over 21 as HG, but have 4 U21s, we still have 4 spots in the squad we can't fill.

Technically those 2 things might be different but the philosophy of our club is quite clear on that.

8 spots to be filled somehow by HG or under 21 players. Right now we havr just 2 sure-shot HG players (JT-GC). Ifullly expect 3/4 spots to go as under 21 spots.

That's what I'm trying to get through... The amount of U21s we have doesn't matter because they don't have to be registered so they don't count... So they're not filling the spots with 3/4 players U21 because it's U21 are free to registration anyway.

I kniw that. Almost everyone knows that. But a player like zouma is probably going to be a massive player for us next season. While writing down the potential squad for next season I have to very much include him in the scheme of things.

I can say that our 7th and 8th defender spots might go to under 21, our 5th CM spot might go to under 21, and the 6th Am spot might go to under 21. But while explaining the squad and the need to not buy a new CB, I HAVE to write down zouma and include him. And that is precisely what I have done above.
