They used to come to Chelsea back in the day about 500 strong while I was at Maine Road twice in the 80's where we brought 9,000 and both games were in the old second division. Rekin 835
Yeah City is building quite the team, they really feel like Chelsea did in the first years post Roman. It just feels weird that they can spend so much time and time again without any repercussions. It also makes me feel like it is hard to really evaluate Pep. Barcelona with prime Messi, Xavi, Iniesta and many others followed with a freshly treble-winning Bayern and now a City where there is next to no limits to their expenditure. The season as City where he actually had to play with some mediocre players ended with him withing absolutely nothing. Coincidence?
oldportblue 547
Antonio Conte demands more signings at Chelsea -The Telegraph Quote Antonio Conte is targeting a huge spending spree at Chelsea this summer as he bids to rebuild his title-winning squad. Conte has already broken the club’s transfer record with the £58 million signing of Alvaro Morata but has sent out a clear message during Chelsea’s tour of the Far East that more players are required. Chelsea’s squad has reduced since securing the Premier League title after the departures of former captain John Terry, Nathan Ake and Nathaniel Chalobah while Diego Costa is set to join Atletico Madrid and Nemanja Matic is wanted by Manchester United. Antonio Rudiger, Tiemoue Bakayoko and Willy Caballero were signed before Morata’s record move, taking the summer spending towards the £130 million mark. But Conte has demanded more signings as he prepares to defend the title and challenge in the Champions League for the first time since his appointment at Stamford Bridge. “We need to improve the quality and improve the squad because next season will be very tough for us,” he said. “We are 16 players, without the goalkeepers, and to face four competitions in a good way we need more players. “We are in a moment where we have to create solid foundations for this club, we have lost a lot of big players that were fundamental at Chelsea. “We can’t make a mistake because it’s very dangerous. I repeat, we need to improve and increase our squad and to be something important for the present but also for our future. “I have spoken with the club, they know this situation very well and we are trying to find the right solution.” Conte pledged his own future to the champions by signing a new two-year contract earlier this week and Chelsea’s board are hopeful of at least another three signings ahead of the new season. Chelsea are also fully supportive of Conte’s stance on Costa, who will be axed this summer after his relationship with the club hit rock bottom. And Chelsea’s manager has expanded on the reasons behind Costa’s impending sale, insisting the squad will cope without last season’s leading scorer. “Only one player is not important. The most important thing is the team, the squad and it’s important now to be together. You can’t just lose it after one player,” he said. “I want to to clarify the situation because in January it was very clear for the club, for Costa, for his agent, that when we arrived in June then it would be finished. It was very clear from January.” Hopefully the board obliges..

Van Dijk will improve massively our defensive line, but can't see him coming to Chelsea for the rumoured price they want for him.

Posted elsewhere, whats the need for a 3rd striker, we play 1 up top with 2 strikers arguably too good to be a 2nd choice, last season we played and won convincingly with a false 9. If we seem desperate for a 3rd choice to fill in the bench against lesser teams/cup games either 1) Promote a youth player 2) Keep Remy who seems happy to pick up a wage and not play DYC. and Reddish-Blue

Yes they will probly pass ffp , but kinda highlights how much of a joke they are and the basics of f"fair"play that they have a near -£300 mill over 2 consective seasons in player purchases/sales! GQman2121 17
It's as if you have no knowledge of Chelsea's recent history. Why would anyone care how much a club spends on transfers? Obvious you don't ,if you looked at the players in/out finances at Cfc the last few seasons . The point of the post was to highlight how much in the red M.City are in two consecutive seasons in this aspect in which this is the basic foundation of FFP , and i highlighted basic for obvious reasons! Rekin 835
It was just a friendly, but it showcased many of our weaknesses. With Fabregas in the middle we just get overrun, while the WB's are absolutely massive for our gameplan. With Moses and especially Alonso not tracking back properly, we were wide open. With them staying back, we had no attack to speak of. The two WB positions are a priority, we need to find upgrades on both Alonso and Moses, they might be enough to compete for PL, but they will never be good enough for CL. I also think we really need another CM should either of Kante/Bakayoko get injured. Sanchez is actually an interesting option, should he be available. Who cares though? Specifically, who cares about how much another club spends? Why concern yourself with how they conduct business? There are a dozen other ways to balance the books besides player sales. So again, who gives a shit?
