Voted for Hazard. Don't like any of the third options. Luiz has been mixed and Mata's kicks have looked pretty soft so far and is more of a finesse kicker than you'd like from a penalty-taker. Ideally, I'd like to see Sturridge learn how to take penalties. He has the confidence and heavy shot that can equal success. Obviously, if we sign another striker, they could be next in line. Really, you only need two players who can take them.

i wanna see hazard over lamps... u guys are gonna kill me for this... but i dont really like lamps taking the penalty.. he ALWAYS kicks it to his left and it surprise me how goalies don't know that.. he just shoots hard.. i like placement over power to be honest

Lampard is the first choice for a reason. He is the most experienced and has a sound penalty technique i.e he comes in straight to kick the ball. not at an angle like Olic or Cole.And I would take Power over placement anyday simply because placement alone may not be enough for a penalty to get through but Power alone- as we saw Lampard's pen in the CL Final - maybe enough. Neuer knew where Lampard was gonna put it and yet he couldn't stop it. Lampard's penalty misses over the years have come when he hasn't gone for power - Portsmouth 10', Newcastle 11', Fulham 11'.

Not going to happen, Lampard has been the first choice penalty taker for so many years, and he's still superb at them. Hazard should be second, then Luiz after him, then Cole, and then Mata.

Agree with that though I still have question marks over Luiz's penalty taking ability.

What about Meireles though? He looks capable of taking one. Has he taken before in his career?

I hope Nando starts taking some more if i'm honest. So many strikers get cheap goals from the spot, Rooney, RVP, Bent etc and they can boost stats. Lampard has scored loads of pens for us and they say how many goals he's scored from midfield. Although it's a stunning record, they've not all come from midfield. He's also missed his fair share.

Maybe this thread needs to be updated or started again for the 2012/13 season. I think the order should be Lampard, Hazard, Torres, Mata.
