Juan Mata

Managed to keep hold of him in the end, but I'm not looking forward to the next window. Will we be able to do it again?

For starters, lets just see how he is used and fares under Mourinho till then. Hopefully, everything will be just alright.

I think Jose need to clarify one or two things about him though.

Clarify like what? Jose has said many times he isn't leaving, even though there is always that element of doubt whether he will be leaving, but stories continue to persist.

If anything, it might have been helpful had Mata come out and reassure us about his future here.

Must have been instructed not to. He seems like the quiet type anyway.

Isn't it like every club's policy that players don't talk about rumors? I remember Carragher saying that in some interview long back..

thats strange. Does it mean that media outlets could be paying clubs to stay quiet so they can sell more papers?

Not saying he needed to do it but would have been helpful and better for us if it happened.

I think it's probably cause they don't want to mess up transfer bids. Imagine if a rumors comes out that player X has been offered 30 million to join Liverpool. Obviously he hates the Merseyside, so goes to the press and says, "I ain't leaving for shit". Then the club gets pissed cause they wanted player X to leave as they would get good money.

Maybe Mourinho was just giving him a time off just like RDM did and we thought he wasnt favoured

Think Mourinho gave the squad or rather those not selected by their national team time off after the Super Cup game last week as opposed to giving Mata, specifically, time to rest. If anything, that tweet probably tells us that the stories of him having agreed to join PSG yesterday was a complete BS!

Exactly, he has played non-stop football for 2 years

Mata was again overlooked for the internationals so he'll be one of the few players staying at Cobham to train with Jose for the next week or so. Trust Mourinho to get him back to full fitness in time for Everton so he can give a massive fuck you to those who doubted his role under Jose.

who's doubting him? :ermm: Mata's universally loved on here

Any more infos on why he isn't in the Spain squad? It's usual not to see him starting for them, but didn't he always have a spot on the bench? Not that I'm mad, I think those two weeks are very good for him. José maybe has spoken with Del Bosque to let him stay at Cobham so Juan can build up his full fitness!?

You serious? Ever since the rumours started to spread of him being on his way out certain people here were starting to plan for a future without Mata and would have happily handed him over to our main title rivals now that we've got Willian.

And then there's the media. They would have been so glad to see Mata leave Chelsea for one of their favorite teams like Manchester United, Arsenal or even Liverpool that they wrote some really embarrassing stuff about Mata being completely frozen out of the first time which clearly was not true.

I think they were more preparing for a possible situation than anything else, i don't think anyone actually fell out of love with Mata.

I love Mata but i don't think he is irreplaceable, i don't think any player in the world is quite frankly, Manchester United lost Ronaldo and since have won 2 title's and lost out on the other two by 1 point and goal difference, Arsenal lost RVP last summer and despite dropping a place gained in terms of points. They gained a place and in points the season before that despite losing Cesc and Nasri.

If the worst comes to the worst and we lose Mata any time soon, we should be able to cope and if we can't then there's something seriously wrong with our team.

Don't get me wrong under no circumstances do i want Mata sold, but i think people were trying to say the team will still be strong enough to kick on if it happened or happens in the future.
