didierforever 7,349
That's if these players get injured. It's the nightmare scenario and if it happened, then it would be tough all round. By that logic we shouldn't loan out any players just in case, but you make these decisions based on what is likely to happen.no. the post was to say what our decision would be when their our tough and big fixtures in the future and a club like chelsea have to think of that since it is likely that we would reach the semi of fa cup and CL. or atleast we hope. where does the loaning out thing come in here? Rekin 835
There is only one scenario in which I would be ok with this, and that is if Rooney goes in the other direction. His positional flexibility would make the loss of Mata & KDB less noticable, while at the same time improve our attack considerably.I would not have said that at the start of the season, but the truth is that we manage just fine (if not better) without Mata in the first eleven (and I say that as a person who love Mata). Mata is too valuable to just sit there, either play him or sell him, and if a sale is the prefered option that it needs to be done while his market value is at its highest. Special Juan 28,141
I just find it hilarious that Moyes is scouring the earth for players, not only that he spent weeks chasing Fibreglass from Barca, spotted in Turin watching Pogba and Vidal apparently and now offering 35-40M to us.I'm sorry but how fucking desperate is Moyes The only place to be

SinineUltra 1,170
Your assuming they will pay that fee or more...Last summer, Blanc even said PSG never offered Mata, but they did for Ozil. What makes you think PSG will all of a sudden offer that much? We have a chance to raise funds for the future and balance our squad, yet we shouldnt take it cause it helps United? Its one thing if it was your money, but Roman probably would like to get some ROI once in a while..The point wasn't how much we will get for Mata if we were to sell him to PSG (though logically it would be in the range of 30mil). The point was - why should PSG sell him to Utd? He would stay there for 2-3 years, he will be 28-29 and still a good player but certainly not someone to spearhead Utd out of this crisis if they haven't already climbed out of it already. If something like this were to happen we ought to -in a sense- be thinking short term, we can't predict what will happen in years to come. BlueLyon 9,359
One should ask how stupid can you be to turn a player who was 1st/2nd best playemaker in the world, one of best Pl players of past two years and club best player in 2 years into bench warmer in just couple months.Fuck it if he doesnt fit perfectly to Mourinho style. He is #10 and if he was given the chance, he would take it. Mata should be given 5 games in row in his position and then we would see if he is good or not. Back in september when things werent that fucked up. But Jose is stuborn and thinks only of team instant success.Good example is Rooney who was nearly out last year from united, but proved to be team best player. Mata would probably do the same if he actualy got regular playtime as #10.
didierforever 7,349
but most of those players are way better suited for ManUtd than Mata is. If they decide for Mata over them, then good for us twice, not only we'll get a lot of money for him, but ManUtd won't even improve as they could going for really fast players, that play their best in the wing - where ManUtd have been building their system for many years now. Mata is technically better than those guys imo, but way less fitting to ManUtd system, so if selling Mata to them will prevent them from getting Reus, Draxler or di María, it'd only give me more reasons to ship Mata there. And that's coming from someone that isn't that comfortable selling them any players...55 assists and 33 goals in the last 2 years while playing in the PL itself. dont know how you can say that they are better for united than mata is. united under saf were playing thru wings, what moyes wants to do is still unknown. all your post is on the assumption that mata is not suited for united more than these "fast players" and i disagree. more than wing players, united right now need some1 who can give them control of the match and the ball. they got beat at it by hull, norwich and swansea (with all due respect). Share Posted January 22, 2014 If this back fires I hope Mou is held accountable too because this has bad written all over if? more like when.1)mata is one of the finest no 10's in the world2) He will have fire in his belly and be desperate to prove his doubters and haters wrong badly3)It's a world cup year4) Utd have better strikers that will bring out the best in mata as a playmaker5) The fact that he will likely be a regular starter (no one pays £40m for a benchwarmer) means he will have enough games and minute to regain his full confidence and form and I wouldn't want to face a confident and fully in form mata. Toli 977
madness. our board is just deluded as Mourinho is on this topic. selling to a rival a top plyer. unbelivable. would rather lose 5-10 m than feeding an opponent ffs. thanks to Mourinho for destryoing Mata at first and then strengthening an opponent. thanks for it.@We Hate Scouse yeah "overreacting", surely. maybe you are "underreacting" how about this? not our best player? the polls of the last 2 !!! years say something different. and the stats too. maybe Hazard is better than Mata, but tahts it. beside Hazard, Mata is our best player in this squad and there isnt even room for discussion for it (if we talk about attacking players) The Chels

Jase 43,479
One is that you could use Rami on the wing. The second is to use the 433. We're talking about suffering TWO injuries to Willian, Hazard, Oscar and Schurrle. Realistically if that happens then we're in trouble whether we have Mata or not. I'd still be inclined not to use Mata if that happened though and maintain the fast-paced pressing game by using Ramires who has the athleticism required.Ramires is an option on the RW but I would rather us not go there. We know how literally ineffective he can be out wide and won't take long before we all go bitching about it, again. As for the other 4, yes if one gets injured then we can play 4-3-3 to compensate but there will be only 3 AMs in 2 position and we can't overplay 1 or the other, can we? There's gonna be an issue in managing them to make they are not flogged to death and with just 3, there's a higher risk for the next one to get injured, hypothetically. Obviously, this won't be an issue if we get KOed early from the cup competitions but if not, then yeah..Good post by the way. It's a shitty transfer all round because we are looking to sell a fantastically talented player, but if a fantastically talented player doesn't fit the style of football you're playing then what real use is he?Was prepared for the day we sell him but certainly not right now and certainly NOT to Man United, a PL rival, of all teams!
