  1. Happy Birthday, Super Frank! I can't believe he is now 35! Guess I'll always see him as our star midfield man who is in his mid 20s. Greatest Chelsea player ever!
  2. I doesn't really matter who we face and when because as we saw last year and also in 2011 the strong start guarantees you nothing. We need to be strong all season long.
  3. As I said I'm not too bothered with our away kits. If we rate the home ones it's an easy choice for me. My clear favourite is the 06-08 one which was the first from Adidas Such a beauty! Even nowadays it's still my first choice when I decide I want to go out with a Chelsea shirt. And just two years later this horrible thing came out:
  4. This cunt should stay away from Chelsea as far as possible. Can't forget what he did to Ballack.
  5. While I buy every year's home kit so far I've never gotten myself an away kit. The only one I really liked and the best alternative kit we've had IMO was this one: but I couldn't convince myself even for that. Guess this year won't be much different.
  6. I don't like the idea of printing other things than the name and number of a current player. But what do I know? All of my shirts have the name of a certain number 8 of our team
  7. Rooney is probably the third best option for a new striker after Cavani and Lewandowski atm. However: 1. I know I'm not the one paying his wages, but the thought of him signing up for 300k gives me a headache; 2. United won't sell a top player to us, they are not like Arsenal and Liverpool.
  8. In some matches he is a monster defensively. HOWEVER, there are a couple of regular situations that can drive a Chelsea fan mad. That happens especially when: 1. He has played a great defensive game all match, then he makes a moment of brain fade and we concede because of him. 2. When we are in a desperate need to score and it seems like all he does is back-passing Whether we should sell him or not I tend to go with the former, because I'm not really fond of the one dimensional defensive midfielders who are utterly useless up wide. No matter how great they are doing in the deep positions. And Mikel is a perfect example of the description.
  9. I don't get why he is being slagged off. He's got some impressive qualities and he would have been a great signing for us. He relies too much on strength and power, but recently the wide players we buy are quite the opposite and I kinda miss the powerful forwards we had in the past. Have to admit though, after the signing of Shurrle, I don't think anymore attacking midfielders/wingers are needed, so it's a bit nonsensical to splash another £30+ million there instead of resolving far more important issues like the double pivot and the strikeforce.
  10. Welcome, Andre! So I guess the plan is having Cavani and Lukaku as our two strikers with Schurrle playing primarily on the wing and albo being a third option as a striker if both Edinson and Romelu get injured.
  11. It's fine that you offered some stats, but usually it's more than that. Even if you look at Drogba's 8 seasons with us he scored 30+ goals in only two of them, with only 14-15 goals average per season through the other 6. The problem with Torres is his long spells of bad form, when he is literally hopeless and the team is suffering a lot. That's why we should let go of him given we have a good offer or if Napoli accept him being part of the Cavani deal.
  12. Imagine how awesome it would be if we complete the deal by the end of the week and on Monday we have him posing with our beautiful new shirt
  13. By creating topics like this one you're just asking something to go wrong and cause the deal to fail
  14. He had issues with his fitness this season, but it's really depressing to see how many people write him off even before the start of the next one. IMO he still has a lot to give to the team despite people claiming his body is falling apart and him being close to retirement. Don't forget he is not that old yet
  15. If we get Cavani and fail to offload Torres I can't see him being given a chance to play next season. It is unlikely that we'll get rid of bad after just half a season as well... We'll just have to wait and see.
  16. Okay, so now that we've released Turnbull and Hilario we have only Jamal Blackman as a back up keeper. I can't see Courtois being used somehow so we'll probably give him one more year on loan and get some experienced old keeper to cover Petr.
  17. That's true but on the other hand buying squad players like Dzeko and Gomez on the cheap doesn't show too much ambition IMO. The idea behind the big money signings is to make those players the pinpoint of the certain area of the field - as it's the case with Cavani. Sure those transfers will always bear some risk, but it's better than buying another striker like Ba, which won't solve anything.
  18. From Cavani, Hulk, Jovetic and Schurrle, I'd take Cavani + one of the other three. That would be more than enough to solve our issues up front, which considering the amount of goals we scored last season aren't that big. Not as big as those deep in the midfield. I even think getting only Cavani could do, then we should concentrate on getting a world class DM/deep-lying playmaker.
  19. Surprise, surprise. First linked with Rooney and now Fellaini. Looks like Arsenal are finally ready to splash some cash. However, I believe both players' ambitions go beyond mere Arsenal.
  20. £34 million for Fernandinho Can't believe City paid for him more than we did for Hazard. Looks like they were extremely desperate to sign him as that's probably twice his actual cost.
  21. Now when I think about it, I don't remember us using the 2012/13 away kit the way it was presented - all white with dark blue socks, it was either entirely white, or the pants were also dark blue, so expect something similar with this one.
  22. It's a pity I couldn't watch the match. I'll always respect this guy, for the time he spent at Chelsea and for all his great performances with us. Easily the best German player in the early 00s, he was extremely unlucky not to win more accolades, 2002 especially was a nightmare as he was on the losing side of 3 finals - CL, Deutcher Pokal (Leverkusen) and the World Cup (Germany) and Leverkusen lost the Bundesliga on the last matchday. But if you look back and draw the line he had a hell of a career
  23. Decided to do one over the European football as a whole Player of the season : Gareth Bale... as much as I don't like him he singlehandedly dragged Tottenham in the top 4 race, they recorded their best EPL season in terms of points and simple I can't think of a team being so dependent on their star player in the last couple of years Young player of the season : Eden Hazard... it's remarkable how many people are not recognizing what he's done in his first season with us, with the extra pressure and considering how tough the league is, he was absolutely brilliant, scored some very important and beautiful goals and he was very entertaining to watch Best transfer of the season : if you're looking for a good deal where you got a great performance for the amount of money you've spent then Michu is your guy. Still has to prove he is not a one season wonder though. Worst transfer of the season : Alex Song, Shinji Kagawa Best managerial appointment of the season : nothing too exceptional but let's say Michael Laudrup Worst managerial appointment of the season : Brendan Rodgers...regardless of the effort the British media is putting to defend and excuse him, he is average and Liverpool are still shit Goal of the season : well, honestly most of the goals I remember are Chelsea goals, so I'm going to go with Oscar's turn and shoot against Juventus Overachieving team of the season : Real Sociedad, from relegation battlers to a Champions League team with almost no funds spend (a CL team if they pass the play-off round of course) Underachieving club of the season : Inter and Roma with the both teams out of next year's European competitions Best match of the season : Benfica - Chelsea 1-2 Best moment of the season : Frank Lampard 203 Complaint of the season : Terrible refereeing in all the major leagues
