Its funny. Manchester United are stuck with Moyes (who is a good coach) with an really good squad - full of top players and plenty of depth - but he might struggle to attract all the top players as hes not Fergie. Where as we will have Jose coming back and that potentially gives us a pass to try and get a lot of top players as top players want to work with top successful coaches. Yes it doesn't always work like that but who doesn't want to play for Mourinho? Hes got that 'x factor' if you'll call it that. As does Pep, as proven with Gotze moving to Bayern from Dortmund and as did Fergie. Still I suppose Moyes is managing Manchester United though, the brand of Manchester United probably makes up for the fact hes not a global name like Fergie. Do United really need more players expect a LB and CM?

If we sign him there are many pluses, as the posted above has put a few I think I will add some too. 1) Shirt sales is a big one, probably be bigger than Torres for us tbh. 2) As Mata and Torres have done, a potential sponsorship deal with Adidas. Imagine Adidas adverts with both Torres and Rooney, two players who have been endorsing Nike products for many years, both playing for Chelsea. 3) Home grown player with many years left, mainly his peak years. 4) Versatile, he can play CM, CAM, ST which will suit Jose as he will be able to utilize him in many different positions due to injuries/suspensions if needed. 5) Playing in say CM, allows the likes of Lukaku and Feruz in the future to get much more chance of getting games here. 6) Very experienced, its not like hes a lad whos been playing in the lower teams in the PL is it? 7) Scores 15 goals plus a season at least, which is good. Can score upto 30 maybe even 40 in a really really good season. 8) Will be very ambitious if he moves here to prove he is still more than good enough, which he is. 9) On technical ability, the best English player. 10) Hes a game changer, can create something out of nothing, eg. that pass for Van Persie's sublime volley vs Aston Villa. Sure hes on 250k p/w but can't we just give him a big sign on fee and ask him to lower his wages? Plus we pay Lampard and Terry 175k p/w and they sit on the bench half the time... even though they deserve such wages after successful service at the club over the last 10 years or so. Benayoun and Malouda make a lot too, so getting them off the wage bill will give us a bit more help in terms of wages and FFP if this were to go ahead.

Surely if Jose came back and we signed Rooney you'd think he'd rejuvenate him a bit. Hes the best player England have produced for a while.

Mata was one of our better players. Nearly scored a few, played nice passes and overall played well. NO NO NO NO NO ALL LIES I think we have to at least sign a midfielder but if it were to be from the PL he'd be high on my list. Hes a very much complete MF player, can get stuck in, can get up to help and support the striker and a very very good passer of the ball. Hes not a box to box player as SeB said a few pages back, hes very much in that Michael Carrick role where he receives the ball, puts his head up passes it and asks for it again. I had watched him in the SPL and knew straight away that he was a good player, Hamilton didn't really play a similar style of football like the ball retention based football Wigan do so it was always going to be interesting to see how he did under Roberto Martinez. He has excelled and is much more disciplined and tactically aware as he was at Hamilton. I think he'd be a decent option for our pivot, hes not exactly Xabi Alonso but hes a hard working player with certain qualities to be a success for Chelsea.

Carvajal is nowhere near as good as Azpi yet. Azpi is so underrated, his first season has been incredible.

I would prefer Arsenal and ourselves finished top 4 than Spurs and ourselves. Spurs would actually go out and look at big players unlike Arsenal, who always seem to invest in younger players at lower values. Plus if Spurs aren't in the top 4 then there is more chance Gareth Bale will piss off.

Because United are trying to overload on the right with Valencia, Rafael, even Jones and Anderson getting out wide on the right. Milan need to build around their front three El Sharaawy - Balotelli - Niang and also around Boateng, Montolivo and De Sciligo. They are 6 players that are vital to them. They could do with De Jong getting fit as well so they can use him as their holding MF player.
