  1. well this is interesting. continue please or just take a look at the posts you guys have put up and just agree to disagree? everyone has an opinion. Anyway on depression and footballers in general, I don't know if anyone remembers the thread I started about a young Swede who played for Inter Milans youth teams and how he suffered with depression, its more common in sport than you'd think actually, you wouldn't think some athletes could be depressed (well not that they are immune to being depressed but you know what I mean) due to the fact they live an amazing life in regular folks eyes (doing what they have probably always wanted to do, big money etc) but still its a very sensitive matter. I think as years go on clubs should be able to help players deal with it better than what they do now, in fact not just football players I think the help for people suffering from depression will increase due to the fact its seen as a more high profile illness compared to what it was 15-25 years ago.
  2. I was reading a few pages back and a few people were saying Mourinho didn't bring success to Chelsea it was all the money bla bla bla. Bullshit. Buying players is only half the job, you've got to unite them, get them hungry for success and motivate them to make them want to win which by the way we did win the PL in 2004-05 was incredible work by Jose. He took players who were 'good' but not world class and helped turning them into better and some of them world class players. The likes of JT, Lampard, Drogba, Cech, Carvalho, Robben, Joe Cole etc. I really dislike seeing shit about how we shouldn't get Jose because he is a shit manager when he isn't, give any other reason, because hes not a shit coach......... at Porto, at Inter, at Chelsea and even at Madrid he has got his players wanting to run through walls for him, currently hes the best motivator and coach in world football. This year has been bad for him yes but still, he beat 'the best team in the world' to the Liga a season before in a record breaking way. All teams have bad phases, we seem to have a bad phase every fucking year or two but still.
  3. Seen we are linked with him, even though its only on caught offside. Apparently we will offer €25 million in the summer, probably a fake rumor that's started due to his impressive CL record but yeah. http://www.caughtoffside.com/2013/03/23/chelsea-prepare-21m-bid-for-galatasaray-forward-burak-yilmaz/
  4. Does this mean Ivanovic is going to be a CB from now on? JT or Cahill a mere squad player? Azpi is first choice RB in my eyes. Clyne will be on the bench if we sign him. So either Cahill or JT will probably not get as many games as you'd have thought. Clyne is a good solid RB though, only 21 or 22, has big potential. Surprised he ended up at Southampton and not Man United like what was said last summer. Would be happy with him especially for £7.5 million.
  5. Just did some checks, that Rui Sa Lemos bloke is a real coach. Unsure whether that was him on twitter or not but hes a real coach. http://youthtoprosoccer.com/2013/01/24/guest-session-by-rui-sa-lemos-fc-porto-academy-speed-of-play/ http://www.slideshare.net/RSL Hope its true, I wouldn't be surprised if Jorge Nuno Pinto Da Costa has a say on Mourinho's future soon too tbh, he had a lot to say about AVB when he was at Chelsea and after he got sacked.
  6. Rui Sa Lemos (youth coach at Porto) has announced on twitter that Mourinho is coming back here next season he stated he's not guessing, hes 'giving' the news... beaten to it........ some quick guys on here tonight....
  7. He had great potential but as was mentioned, he seemed to get arrogant and also slightly lazyish. He was linked with Barcelona a few years ago but hasn't really kicked on since tbh. Varane has over taken him as the best under 23 center half. Also I think with PSG signing Alex and Thiago Silva it also hasn't helped him much. If we are too sign a center back we need a 25-28 year old player who can step in right now like Garay (who was linked with us, is a good center back who has improved since being at Real Madrid at Benfica, even though United have apparently agreed a 17m deal) and play at a very high level already unlike Zouma, who as talented as he is, isn't what we need at this moment as he still needs work. Also on the rumors we are eyeing up Forster as a quality back up to Cech, I'd happily accept if we get him, hes miles better than Blackman, Hilario and Turnbull. Would he be happy to play as a number 2? Who knows but he'd be a good addition imo. Aren't Hilario and Turnbull's contracts also up in the summer? Probably why we are looking at him in fact, he'd also take up Turnbull's home grown place if he was released.
  8. Why don't we first agree a deal for a new manager and let him pick a striker to sign? Say we appoint someone after we agree a deal for Falcao, which who knows we probably will end up doing, then hes forced to play Falcao basically as hes the latest big name and big price tag signing.
  9. Apparently West Ham have agreed a deal for him.
  10. Hes not that slow, hes not one of incredible speed but hes certainly not slow.
  11. Keep seeing Neymar would be useful as he could provide width on the right. Bullshit. Hes an inverted forward who comes in off the left. If we want a young talented player capable of stretching teams, look no further than Columbia's alternative to Cristano Ronaldo: James Rodriguez, what a player he could be. Naturally left footed capable of playing on the left, right and as a number 10 too. Would cost 25-30 million but still a cheaper alternative to Neymar.
  12. We'll probably scrape this, Soton will press us as early and high as possible like they did vs Man City, Liverpool and Man United.... and as we know, we play quite bad when we are pressed...... Expect Mata to play, if not Oscar in the middle with Hazard and Moses flanking him.
  13. As stated above, his poor pass gave the ball away for Balotelli's screamer. Still Brazil haven't been as good in the second half tbh, Italy look classy.
  14. Exactly, its only an image of himself hes signing.....
  15. Hazard was unreal. His off the ball work impressed me today as well, I think Rafa deserves credit for that. His link up with Mata today was also very very good, hes getting better and better each game I see him. Good team selection today too by Rafa.
  16. NOT THAT BAD, NOT THAT FCKING BAD. 41 MILLION ALONG WITH 10 MILLION PER YEAR ON A 5 YEAR CONTRACT IS 91 MILLION PLUS BONUSES AND SHIT, THAT IS FUCKING BAD........
  17. We don't need 3 strikers who can score over 20 something goals each because Oscar, Hazard and Mata are goal scoring players too. Mata has 18 this season, Oscar has 9, Hazard has 11, Ba has 16(?) and Torres has 18. Thats 72 goals between 5 players even though Ba scored 12 or 13 for Newcastle. I'm unsure whether or not my numbers are right though, I was trying to recall from the top of my head haha. Also throw in Lampard, Cahill, JT, Ivanovic, Luiz, players who are all capable of scoring goals too. As long as other players are scoring and helping the strkers we have, we don't exactly need 3 20-25 goal a season strikers. We could do with the option tbh but if we take Lukaku back, keep Torres and Ba then I think we will be fine if the MF players also help out. Plus if we don't loan Romelu and sign Falcao or Cavani how will he get games? He wont........ we need to start playing the younger guys regardless of 'we could have Cavani or Falcao'
  18. Mikel is an established player now, hes not potential, hes looking to kick on in his prime. Hes not an 18 year old needing games to develope. Also what do you mean expand his passing? his passing is neat and tidy and he can play great long balls/passes every now and then when needed. Hes never been restricted, hes been important since Carlo came over and won the double, he was also important winning the CL and FA cup last year, to make out his plays restricted is a joke! He doesn't need a 'proper coach' he needs a player that suits the pivot next to him. Hes been one of our best players this season along with Mata, Cech, Hazard, Oscar and Azpi imo.
  19. Steve Clark was watching Kalas last weekend, I think he wants to sign him on loan for WBA next season. Which is good for him but possibly bad for us. Anyway onto the pivot. I think when you said that Mikel has a restricted game you are surely joking, I don't want to get into this but Mikel could do with someone like Song (in a role he had at Arsenal, where he had a bit more freedom due to playing next to Arteta) next to him. Song really fine tuned his game and got was it 11 or 12 assists from CM, which is quite impressive. Hes a rounded player, can attack and defend equally well and would be perfect. I don't want to see Oscar wasted next to Mikel tbh, one of the ebst parts in his game is his technical ability and the fact he drops t oask for the ball to help his teammates out, which ultimately frees up space and drags players out of positions. Playin him next to Mikel would be pointless, his passing range is good and his defensive work rate is too but still hes in my eyes a number 10 more than anything. Also we must go back to 4-3-3 if we want to become this tiki taka like team. 4-3-3 is the perfect formation for it. Can change into a 3-4-3, 3-4-1-2, 3-3-1-3 or a 4-1-4-1 or 5-4-1 depending on what match situation. The players we have suit it better.
  20. Play like that to the end of the season and you can stay, if not fuck off. Only 20 mins but he showed passion, showed desire, belief in his ability etc. Unfortunate with the pen, would have been a good pen if it was 2 inches lower.
  21. If Wilshere wins young player of the year after about 5 games I can actually remember him playing then I will punch every PFA writer in the face.
  22. Rafael is so overrated, good going forward, shite defensively. If Wallace turns out like him then god help us. Tbh I rate only Zabaleta and Richards as better RBs than Azpi even though Richards has rarely played this year. Guy is beast. Probably turn into a CB though. Anyway Cesar > Ivanovic at RB, offers so much more than the Serb apart from strength and an aeriel presence.
  23. Wilshere can't play in the pivot imo. Hes always pushing up leaving lots of space for the opposition MF players to exploit, which eventually leaves Arteta/Ramsey outnumbered in MF. I've seen a lot of Arsenal fans also mention this, still a terrific player though and I'd have him here no matter how much he is Arsenal through and through.
  24. Mikel was brilliant today, million times better than what Lamps was.
