Yes but Barkley had a greater influence on the game due to himself getting on the ball in various positions; in between the lines, in front of his defence, in between Arteta-Ramsey and Ozil etc. He is the main player in that Everton team right now, everything goes through him, even when Baines is in the team.

Totally agree about Rami needing a rest. I like the fact we are linked with Matuidi of PSG, he could be a good option to rotate with Ramires as hes a similar sort of player but we need to find Rami a partner first before a suitable rotation option I think.

No Barkley had a great game because he wasn't afraid to run at Arsenal and he didn't let his head drop if things didn't come off. He has a great mentality as in he's fearless (not afraid to try difficult passes/shots/flicks, take the ball under pressure etc.), strong and most of all technically excellent. The amount of times I seen him receive the ball with his back to goal under pressure from one or two Arsenal players was incredible, the fact he always turned and beat them as well before going went forward without losing the ball in some critical areas of the pitch was even more incredible. He was the same against Manchester United, as Alan Hansen and Danny Mills said on MOTD, we seem to see that coach that out of kids in Britain, they don't want to try and be positive incase they make a mistake or lose it or whatever but Barkley didn't let that affect him once. Barkley has been the best English player in the PL after Rooney so far this season in my opinion. Next Gazza like some people have touted? I don't want to say yes or no but who knows....

Yeah next season we need to weigh the situation up between Petr and Thibaut but to drop Cech for Schwarzer right now because of that mistake would be ridiculous given that ok hes made the other two mistakes as you've mentioned how many times has he kept us in games where we have been terrible? A lot. Goalkeepers make mistakes, they are human too... just when a goalkeeper makes a mistake it is much more costly.

I said that towards the end that he nearly scored. So pissed at why he picks the same underperforming players each week. Ivanovic and Cahill have cost us points in the CL and Premier League the last month or two. Its an utter shambles, he has our best RB playing at LB, our best CB not in the team and our best #10 playing RW... I don't know anymore. The fact we struggled to get up and going for 2 games against Basel as well is very very disappointing. I've noticed since Oscar has come out of the team due to his injury in the last few games we seem to steadily create more chances with Mata in there, I don't know if its just me or if its true or whatever but it shows what Jose and Chelsea has been missing this season, a spark in the team. We cannot defend to save our lives right now though wow holy shit.

Game against Arsenal showed me that hes not ready to be our main striker, Koscielny and Mertesacker had it far too easy most of the game. He still doesn't understand that if you stand behind a defensive line you are offside, he stood still a lot during the game, mostly in offside positions, he had some good moments like towards the end when he took the ball off Arteta and had an effort on goal. His link up play at times was good but also at times it wasn't. Barkley picked the ball up and plays a nice pass between Gibbs and Koscielny but he didn't make the run, he does this at times when he should make a run, its frustrating at times to watch but hes a young guy who will get better. Barkley even had a go at him hinting at the fact he should have made the run. Martinez will make him a better player as he's going to play every week in a team that the expectations aren't as big as Chelsea's. We always complain about 2 things, either 1) we don't play young players often enough or 2) young players don't perform well when they are in our team. Its ridiculous.

Balotelli has a massive ego but his talent is just as big if not bigger than his ego. If we can get him, go for it, absolutely tore Germany apart at the Euros and on his day is unplayable.

Scored but his loan spell so far has been pretty poor from what I've seen. Looks totally different to the player who was at Watford last year...

Mata and Oscar are different sort of players, even Jose says that himself, so how can you say they don't go well together in the same team? Mata creates more chances and Oscar links up with the other midfielder players better than Mata. We can play them together but as Mata plays as a wide 10 he comes inside to create a midfield overload on the right side. They can both play together, as we've seen before but not enough of under Jose.

Strong, pacey, aggressive... we've seen a different Torres the last year and a bit, sure he doesn't score as many goals but in general he looks a better player than when we first got him and in 11-12 for a while. Hopefully he can start scoring some goals.

Surprised Essien started and Mikel didn't, with Southamptons energy and high pressing I thought he would have been nailed on to start given his retention and shielding of the ball is very very good. Also on Lampard coming on, I was also surprised given that we normally play 4-2-3-1 and had Willian and Schurrle on the bench but it looked like we went to a 4-3-3 more than anything. Still a very very good second half performance by the team.

Massive performance in the second half. Ridiculous goal to give away, the gap between Ivanovic and Cahill was insane, you could park 50 buses in that space, Cahill and Ivanovic really struggle playing together at the right side of the defence since Cahill can't cover Ivanovic and Ivanovic is usually so far up/really wide and obviously Essien's pass was incredibly bad...... if he were a Southampton player then it would be incredible haha. Kept plugging away, wasn't particularly impressed in the first half but the second half Torres, Ramires, Ivanovic, Mata, Azpi and Hazard were all excellent I thought. Ba came on and his presence made a difference against Lovren and Fonte... he took his goal well. Hopefully Mata will get more minutes, he put in a real shift. Buzzing to see him playing again.

Given he is a #10, 5 goals is a very good return so far for a 17 year old I'd say. Hes been involved directly in 7 of Dundee United's last 9 goals. Having seen him in most games hes played this season, I would say he's as talented as Islam Feruz if not more talented, he should stay at United though hes the main player in the team basically, he should get at least 100 or 150 games under his belt in the SPL before moving.

Not gonna lie, player's have too much power these days; they want to leave a club they employ a super agent and boom they are gone, they want their salary doubled same thing, super agent and a new contract with double their wages.
