Aye, I'll be honest that is a valid point but I'm sure a lot of people would have expected Arsenal to beaten Monaco (not too comfortably as anyone who has watched them this year or read about them will know how good they've been defensively but still not exactly a bridge too far for Arsenal). The same with us playing Paris, it wasn't quite a formality though like some people might have thought but both teams are more than good enough to win. Obviously as well with Atletico last season and the year before not being able to get out of the group containing Shakhtar, Juventus, Nordjaelland it just goes to show that other leagues are improving slightly as well as our one decreasing a bit.

Ok but still to go and say coke or pepsi is better and then start arguing like fuck about it defeats the whole purpose of using it as a metaphor in the first place. I'll be honest I agree the PL isn't what it is exactly hyped up to be but its hardly a poor league. If PL and Ligue 1 were to combine their would be more English teams in the league than French ones. From an actual football fan point of view I think Germany have got it spot on, season tickets and match day tickets are reasonably priced, not exactly huge huge marketing but its very competitive (well Bayern look like they will dominate but 2nd-6th is always interesting) and they do well enough financially but also make the prices reasonably affordable.

Goes missing but is probably the one player who probably touches the ball the most in our team, plays the most passes and possibly creates the most chances in a match? Doesn't add up.... In big games he doesn't exactly go missing the whole time, our approach changes and like we seen after we played City and United earlier this season we sit deeper, play compact and players don't make the same runs or play with that intent on getting the second goal and ultimately we decide to not control the game, looking to pick them off on counter. Other players who make Fabregas' life easier by making runs or coming to get the ball and giving him an opportunity to link with them also go missing.

More of the point, who gives a fuck about coke or pepsi right now when its a Chelsea-PSG thread?
-
Another thing I didn't like from the match tonight was 7 or 8 of our players reaction to go round the referee when Zlatan was sent off in the first half. Man United, Barcelona, Real Madrid and Bayern have done it a lot before and it really annoys me to see how many of our players got round the referee like that, if I'm honest its quite pathetic and Oscar rolling about like he'd been shot with a shotgun doesn't do anybody any favors as well. You just don't normally see British teams get around the referees to such the extent that basically every outfield player bar the goalkeeper and a few others was within a meter or two of the ref.

Tbf I think players should celebrate against their old clubs if they score but saying they won't then doing it, what a pure and utter wank.
-
Think it would be too far to get Roman to hire a hit on him?
-
Hopefully get him starting v Southampton, if not then well fuck knows.... impact player?

Mourinho really did get it wrong though, perhaps as much as the players choked, Mourinho also choked. PSG went down to 10 men and we just let them dominate. No reaction at all, no real major chance in emphasis from the team at all. You can't expect to play against 10 men and get dominated if you are as good a team as we are, even if it is PSG, it seemed like he was more concerned about trying to play like we did in France but at home where any PSG away goal would put us in bother. A few years back he did this sort of approach against Man United with Real Madrid in the CL but as soon as Nani was sent off, within a few minutes, Modric was on and the dynamic of the team changed, the full backs got forward more and they kept the ball more and ultimately won the game.
-
We needed to attack PSG, losing to a team who played nearly 90 minutes out of 120 with just 10 men is pretty close to embarrassing, sure we only went out on away goals but we deservedly went out after two absolutely abysmal performances where we could have conceded maybe 5 or more goals in both legs combined if it weren't down to awful awful finishing or great goalkeeping.

No its not his fault and it is also not fully his fault hes under performed because people overrated him to the heavens and back because hes young and English.

Lets be honest it was hardly a great performance by Real Madrid, they looked out of ideas at times and individual mistakes helped Schalke but yes it was a very good performance. Its different to play for Schalke at age 17 or 18 than is it to play for Chelsea and you know this. Lets be honest what team in the PL right now is currently playing a 18 year old or 19 year old from their academy regularly in their first 11 that are in the top 6? Nobody is. Sterling at Liverpool and Wilshere at Arsenal have been the only exceptions players I can think of who at that age came through and played regularly in the last 4 or 5 years. Perhaps throw Ross Barkley into that list because of Everton's high finish last year and maybe Jon Flanagan too but still its only 4 players then.
-
Aye I ken who scored just thought it was at Emirates lol. Anyway regarding City, we shouldn't worry about them and just win every game we can, City are chasing and like they did last year when we were second, we should just focus on beating whats put out in front of us week in week out.

I thought we played them at the Emirates? Anyway we need to get 9 points I feel from those 3 games, any dropped points gives City a potential chance.

I don't get how Daley Blind is playing for Man United. If people think Mikel is bad for playing 'backwards' passes then holy fuck thank god we didn't seem remotely interested in Daley Blind, the amount of times he looked like he might go for a raking pass or even a 20 meter pass forward then took 2 or 3 more touches and played a pass back to Chris Smalling or someone was frightening. I can see why United fans might boo sometimes when they do things like that but they really are morons when they were being pressed and had to go backwards the amount of booing was crazy, they really are stupid ungrateful cunts. Also Ander Herrera is probably never going to be a regular there, he was one of their best players but van Gaal subbed him and kept Blind on?? His great CV and philosophy? Spending about £150m on players? Hilarious.
-
Interesting to see how PSG plan to deal with him, if Marquinhos plays right full back then I can see him being in a bit of bother against Eden.
-
Yeah same but I think we can easily take all 9. All of those games are home games aren't they?

Rather play Ramires in a 4-3-3 than bother spunking 80-100M or whatever stupid stupid price they will want for him although he'd be lucky if hes even worth 50M. Ramires when he played under AVB as a box to box midfielder in 4-3-3 >
-
Hes pretty big physically but hes hardly hyped up as what people said. I remember people saying he was ready to play for a top team and I was like how? Because hes played 3 seasons for Southampton? One season in Championship and 2 in the PL, 0 games in Europe? In fact some people said he was good enough to be Englands first choice LB as well....
-
Was a foul I'd say, we got off with one but still Verratti also should have probably seen a yellow card a lot earlier than what he did. I have to be honest, I think no matter wherever David Luiz plays he is a liability. Sure hes a good player when your team has the ball and are on the front foot but he lost Ivanovic for the goal in France and as we've all seen before hes always seems to be targeted in bigger games by the opposition because of his lack of concentration at times. I think since we've not had a game since Wednesday that Diego Costa will be 110% and be ready to give what he normally gives and more, it is going to be a very interesting battle if Luiz does play at CB, there is no doubt Costa will probably target him.
-
Like I said ages ago about him at Atletico, he needs the team to play to his strengths, there's no point in signing him at all when 1) hes clearly not recovered from his injury and 2) he's not the sort of striker we need.
-
He's a tad lightweight for England I think, he looks a very good athletic shot stopper but lacks a presence in the box, which is key for goalkeepers here. Also I think he will be back up at Real still, even if they sign De Gea, Casillas is evidently past it, made too many errors the last 3 or 4 years.
-
Real are looking a bit like we did under Carlo in his last year, struggling for inspiration at times, delighted for Di Matteo to get that result but I had Real on my coupon, the fuckers. Great game for the neutral but if I was a Real fan or a Schalke fan I'd be concerned about how much goals they conceded and the actual ease of them.
-
His teams still can't defend very well though. West Brom, his Chelsea side after he won us the double and now Schalke look really dangerous attacking sometimes but over commit and leave easy chances for the opposition like we seen tonight, although Real played very bad and Casillas was pish.
-
Definitely been disappointing not just for United fans but a lot of England fans and even people on this forum when we were constantly linked thought he was better than Cole and even Bertrand who has replaced him at Southampton with ease.
