if we are to accept that 4-2-3-1 will be our primary formation then we will have to accept that he is seen as a player for the 1 up front. he can fill in and do the LW or RW in a 3 man front but he`s not suited for the edge of the 3 behind the sole CF. he was played at LW for Germany in the Euro`s. people need to watch him as a CF before coming back with he didn`t impress you or atleast add that he didn`t impress you when he played out of his primary position. having Oscar means nothing atall to if we should still sign Schurrle. the only thing they have in common is that they are attack minded players. it`s like saying we didn`t need Ballack because we already had Drogba.

as Torres` psychologist i fear for his well being having to compete for a starting place like other footballers. Torres is a special case.as shown by his post European Cup winning moment of distress. it is not winning that matters most to Torres but it`s the taking part.

Valencia have been struggling with finances in recent years.well about the last 5 years as they need to find cash for new stadium. if you check the prices that they sold the other players for they were all reasonably priced because of that. that is Oscars price because other teams would pay less. we could always step aside and wait till Porto or Benfica have had him for a year or two then spend double that to get him or we can think like they do and get in early. there`s over 200 brazilian players in Europe and yet Oscar is fast becoming a regular starter in their national team without having yet played here. that should say something.

thanks for the "inside" info. whilst i guess my comment about the Santos president taking the piss is still kind of true i have a better understanding of why he/they chose to make that stand now. although more marketable ,bigger name etc...i`m more excited by the thought of signing Oscar than i ever was with Neymar. i do believe that we will never sign Neymar now so i guess it doesn`t matter now but Oscar seems to be a far more safer bet as a signing.taking into consideration not just the players skills but the whole picture of what it takes for a player to make it in a country foreign to him and in particular in England.

the price of 20m Euro`s for Oscar seems like a very reasonable price to me. when the president of a Brazilian football club is being reasonable we should not try and take the piss. like the Santos president did with us over Neymar. wrap up this bargain already Roman & Ron.

i haven`t used the word superstition once in this thread.until this post so i don`t know why you ask the question how i can believe in tempting fate but not superstition. i don`t believe in all the superstitions like say..if i don`t put my left sock on first Chelsea will lose but i do prefer to not shout to the rooftops about Chelsea are gonna win this or win that. to avoid tempting fate.

i suspect although i`m sure it`s not true for everyone,he is being rubbished by people who have a man crush on Hulk (that definately seems the case with Bluelyon) where as Hulk is a left footed RW. Schurrle is a right footed CF playing LW sometimes. i think he`s being looked at as a CF who if we had better players at the position out he can fill in at LW but CF will be his primary position.

that`s what i would do too..wave the carrot infront of the donkey by giving him the chance to prove himself worthy of playing for us.if he don`t take it we can both move on.

yeah i agree..even Bertrand we nearly ruined his chances with us, good job he has remarkable strength of character for his age. he could easily have given it up on forcing his way into our 1st team squad.
