you are "preachin` to the choir" with me. never wanted him here in the first place but hoped it would work out after he signed. Cavani is much better now than Torres is now.
-
not everyone is anti-Schurrle i`m not sure if it`s that many. if you look around it`s mainly one person bringing his name up all the time when campaigning for Hulk and just a few more. Cavani is class. there`s not many people who would disagree with that..just the weight around our necks that is Fernando Torres makes people not want to buy him. i made a point about that in the Lewandowski thread and offered him as an alternative for those who don`t want Cavani through fear of what it would do to Torres.

i know mate. only a fool would doubt Ronaldo`s talent on the field especially since he chilled out on those step overs that he used to do when he first arrived in England.
-
aslong as he don`t paint his toenails and become a ladyboy like him yeah..me too. he seems more grounded than Ronaldo has ever been tho.

although i`d say Belgium are currently a more talented team than us. we are seeded quite abit higher due to our recent history of qualifying for tournaments so we end up playing more teams seeded lower in qualification. where as Belgium are usually say 3rd or 4th seeds in their groups these days. England are usually either 1st or 2nd seeds. Belgium will get there tho..once they get over that hump of getting to a major tournament again success will snowball from there. this current crop of Belgians remind me of when Figo and co came out as kids for Portugal. every man and their dog thought they were destined to be the best of their generation but they fell short of expectations. i hope they win some silverwear but who knows.Brazil always produce great young talent etc..

. whilst in the gun crime capital of the world..probably cheaper at present than anywhere else. we could always make him wear a hoodie ,throw him off the tour bus and say we`ve just seen a black guy matching his description loitering in a white neighborhood and the cops would do it for us. free of charge.
-
only Walcott ,Willian and Maicon really. Hulk is "on the bubble " for me.
-
nice shirt but i won`t be buying it. i have some retro shirts that i knock about in during the week but don`t wear my shirt on matchdays as like to just blend into the crowd ,especially on away days. last recent shirt i had was the black and blue away fly emirates one and that was bought for me by my ex-wife.i wouldn`t have bought it myself. i like the t-shirts they sell in the shops.wear them quite a lot. loved the "Victory in Europe" one from `98. with the Churchill V for Victory sign in the union flag colours. Coors were our sponsors the last time i bought a home shirt myself.

first pre-season game of his Chelsea career. under such circumstances i always look for good signs and presume that any bad signs will get ironed out in time. starting with a game that isn`t the first pre-season game of his Chelsea career. i`d like to see a right footed winger to play on the right and left on left but that debate has probably got enough in it for a thread of it`s own i guess.
-
Kevin came on for the 2nd half but 1st half worth watching too as Lukaku scored and Hazard scored his first goal in chelsea colours :blue scalf: i was pleasantly surprised by how sharp they looked considering it was the first game of the pre-season tour.
-
i did think that strange too. going against the recent policy of keeping lips tight about our targets. the only reason i could think of why he would say that if he hasn`t been misquoted is the fact that Whelan has been talking about it in the media.
-
welcome aboard Sykik. you are not alone in coming aboard for such reasons. quite a few belgians on here these days.which team do you support in your homeland?
-
if i was Malouda and at his age. after winning every major trophy at Chelsea i think i`d want to just go somewhere i can get some games once it`s been made clear that i`m no longer needed. i wouldn`t want to play the "Bogarde" card and soil the memories of some great times. but that`s just me..
-
atleast you`ll still be able to watch him play with us. could have gone to Barcelona then you`d have to hate him..
-
Graham Stuart scored the best goal you`ll see from a Chelsea player. if you find that goal on youtube you`d think he was as good as Garrincha.(arguably the best dribbler in post war football history) there`s worse players than Stein but for a forward 20 league goals in 4 years. we scraping the barrel here. ..he had talent, just injuries and everything meant he only fleetingly done good things here. more a cult hero at best.
-
didn`t we lose 5-1 at home to Watford on Gordon`s debut. with the infamous Les Fridge in goal. yioks. some things i just try to blank out. i agree tho Durie did have his moments and Speedie definately. i was thinking about how scotland had had truly world class strikers in the past with Law and "king" Kenny. and how in the last 30 years the big hyped players in Scotland like McCoist,Robertson and to a degree Charlie Nicholas flopped in England. the ones that were lesser hyped did better it seems.
-
Fleck made Kalou look like Pele. over £2m on him back in the day. 2k would have been a rip off. he looked good with Rangers and at times with Norwich tho..scottish strikers have been so shit in last 30 years even McCoist was when he was at Sunderland.

Mark is currently the Physio at Crawley Town. whilst i stated earlier that his better years were with Luton Town on looking at his career stats it was the two year spell he had at Stoke before joining us. i remember him most as a Luton player (apart from with us obviously).
-
can i suggest we have a request to talk about certain players from the past thread. then someone in the know can type up a proper profile at the start of the thread.before we move onto talking about them. just thought it would be tidier and also may draw more viewers and contributions. a lil fact file with d.o.b, years played for us, career stats ,where we signed him from etc.. e.g Jimmy Greaves scored his 100th 1st division goal for us aged 20 years and 290 days. breaking the record for the youngest player to score 100 goals in the top flight.a record which stands today..prior to making his debut against Tottenham at 17 he had scored 114 in his last season in the youth team. don`t mean any harm.just giving out a suggestion that folks can agree or disagree with...
-
Schurrle scored 70 goals last season? i think goals in the park against children only count on Pele`s career goal total Kalou may be gone now but that doesn`t mean we have to find somebody else to make excuses for year after year like they are some poor disabled child whose trying his best.
-
Mark Stein was about the same height as Mata but that`s about the only similarity. he had a decent spell with us during the "coors" years. i believe he scored in something like 8 consecutive games. but was patchy and in and out of the team for the rest of his time with us.had some injuries throughout his career which didnt help. he had a brother Brian who played in the top flight of English football too..the cannon 1st division as the EPL was known at the time. apart from that hotspell with us his better years were with his bro at Luton Town. there was a time when Luton away was one of the hardest places to win at for the big clubs in the whole of England.
-
there`s ways out of every awkward situation. it does look like we stuck with Torres and that`s kinda preventing us from replacing him with a better player like Cavani. there should be solution to this problem somehow. just hard to see where it`s gonna come from. i`m not really suggesting we have him murdered tho..lol
-
i know my history of WWI &WWII don`t worry spike but the rest of the countries involved haven`t suffered Arsene Wenger for all these years. so i left them out of it.
-
i think Roman needs to send out the dogs for Fernando and take him for a long drive into siberia where no one can hear his screams. then we can buy Cavani with the insurance money. job done. Next!

i know what you mean mate. but as good as Azpi is he`s not a right footed Ashley Cole where he would kill all competition off. if Kane grows as many believe he can, Azpi will be sold off for a profit to one of the big spanish clubs in a few years time. with him being Spanish he may have that "it`s always been my dream to play for Real/Barca" moment in a few years time anyway. aslong as he helps us to maintain these golden years for a few years more he will leave with my blessing. looks like we could get him for a reasonable price..
