DYC. reacted to Superblue in Chelsea Transfers
I'm not elated about this potential deal but I'm equally not feeling disappointed either. I think the backlash from some is bordering on the ridiculous. Someone with his goal scoring record throughout his career can be nowhere near as bad as some are making him out to be.
The transfer fee is the big thing for me but you have to place trust into the board and people dealing with this transfer.
If you take away any transfer fees, age, etc then out of all the strikers potentially attainable on the market (and from what it seems Haaland isn't one of those) he's just about the best one out there. We could go for a cheaper option like an Ings and it possibly would be a more sensible option, but he is not in the same league of striker that Lukaku is in.
He does seem to have improved his all round game whilst in Italy. Whether that can be replicated back in England we would have to see. His first touch is still a potential question mark, but then Werner is erratic in this department too and it doesn't stop him being a huge threat with his pace. Lukaku with his pace and power could be very similar because when he gets going it is like a freight train running towards the opposition goal. He will both terrify and occupy a number of defenders through his physicality.
I don't want to draw Drogba comparisons but he was incredibly frustrating initially. We didn't see his best until he was nearly 29 and he just continued to get better. There is nothing to say that Lukaku isn't in a similar process himself of maturing and peaking and we get his best years.
I am also pretty sure he will score goals if he were to come here. People have been crying out on the forum all summer about the lack of cutting edge in the squad and how we need a goal scorer and he definitely brings that.
I think the question marks of where he fits in alongside other players is possibly being answered at present by Tuchel in pre season. He has tried a couple of alternative variants of the midfield and attack make up in a back 3/wing back formation. We still have from last season the pivot and three attackers, but we've seen in pre season 2 up top with a number 10 in behind and also more of a sitting midfielder with two number 8's and 2 attackers. We have also seen Pulisic and CHO operate as more offensive minded wing back options. I think the versatility and flexibility we have amongst our attacking players could allow for some slight variations on the wing back system next season and also to be able to change things mid-game without impacting on the defence. There is a very real possibility that Lukaku may bring the best out in Werner to operate as a second striker and possibly the same with Havertz too.

Remember when Mourinho subbed Loftus on in the 83rd minute against Sporting Lisbon in a meaningless match and called it "academy day"? 😂😂

DYC. reacted to MoroccanBlue in Chelsea 1-1 Leicester
The main problem I see is unfortunately not fixable.
Lampard can definitely improve the structure in midfield and how we defend as a unit, but the biggest issue that even Sarri couldn't fix, is the lack of end product.
Willian averages 5 league goals a season
Giroud isn't prolific and his attributes don't make him a good fit for Lampard
Tammy is unproven.
Pulisic is unproven.
Pedro is over the hill, and hardly a chance creator.
CHO, as much as we hype him, is unproven.
Mount and Barkley are probably the most creative. The former unproven and the latter notoriously inconsistent.
The fact of the matter is, the real chances we do create, is from forcing the opposition to make a mistake. When our press slows down, the chances we do create dry up as there is little to no creativity in the team. The chances we do get, we fail to convert. So it breaks down to whether or not we kill the game early on, or allow the opposition back in it.
Let's be real here, there's a reason we saw little to no comebacks last season.

Just can't agree with this. Against ManU we did some things well, though not well enough. We also did some things badly. Badly enough to concede four goals. As for Leicester, we got more than we deserved, not less.

Frank has to take his fair share of the blame for this.
I cannot believe he chose ten players who started on Wednesday in Istanbul. Incredibly naive.
Don't even get me started on that defending.
Lucky to get a draw here. Yes, we had that blitz of half-chances in the first half, but the only other clear cut chance we made was Kante's shot which was deflected. It's a good job Leicester are absolutely shite in the final third, because a decent team would have put four or five decent through balls behind our defence today.
Edit - one more thing: drop Azpilicueta. I don't think I've ever seen a more inept right-back for us.

He's always had the flaws we saw today, it's just previously we were so desperate to see Cahill dropped we ignored them.

DYC. reacted to petre.ispirescu in 🇧🇷 David Luiz
Go back in time to last summer or fast forward to next summer and I would say this is great news, but now the timing is shite because we can't sign a replacement. And the other CB coming back soon from his injury is not some world class one let's be honest, I actually think Rudiger is not good enough either.
Maybe David Luiz felt these past weeks Lamps does not trust him and I go with the gaffer here because this is not actually news for us, but it actually confirms what we all knew by now and this is that Luiz is not good enough and can't be trusted to lead a defence.

My guy is gone. Strangely enough I'm fine with this. I've been ready for this moment. Seven years is a long time. I did not expect him stay this long when he joined and I'm glad I got to watch him play in Blue for that long.
He came with the weight of the world on his shoulders. Most crumble under that kind of pressure but he never let the pressure get to him. I was always highly impressed by that.
His fitness always astounded me. Rarely missed a game and completing the full 90 min pretty much all the time. And the amount of fouls he would just absorb, including a ridiculous number of nasty fouls, yet he would just get up and play on. Never complained, never got angry and never sought to get some sort of (physical) revenge. That level of self control... I've never seen that in all my years watching football. Very inspiring to say the least.
And he's such a likeable guy. Funny, chill, humble but a bit brash still, and very warm and inviting. Oh yeah, and happy. My kind of guy.
I'm grateful for the memories. Not just a Chelsea legend but a legend of English football. Thoroughly enjoyed watching him play.

Only times Kante has played in that position was for France in Euro 16 where he was dropped and the first six games for us where Conte quickly realised his error and acted accordingly.
Having a player who's main attribute is energy screening the back four is criminal, if you think he's a shadow of his best self currently, you ain't seen nothing yet.
