Pretty interesting parallels between Chelsea's current situation and Porto's situation last year. Porto had just sacked their coach (Jesualdo Ferreira) for basically not being able to motivate the team and finishing a disappointing 3rd after winning the title the previous season. In comes AVB and basically keeps the same players that Jesualdo had and kicks their asses into gear and they go the whole league season undefeated.

All of us here were saying all last season that Chelsea had the best group of players bar none in the league and Carlo couldn't get them playing to the best of their abilities. If the parallel continues, then AVB will come in to Chelsea now and basically takes the same group of players minus a couple of tweaks and take them to a convincing league title this season. Its truly a very comparable situation for him, everyone in Portugal were waiting for the pressure to get to him and for Porto's form to cool off but he proved us all wrong.

Being Portuguese, and listening to the reports, do you think AVB will come to Chelsea?

I thought the club might surprise us but AvB looked unrealistic.

If he was really approached it shows once again that the English media know fuck all about what goes on at Chelsea. Proving again that drawing conclusions from the club's decisions is naive if not retarded.

Him and Hiddink sounds like a Dream Team but I'd love to see how they will actually work together and if Boas was Guus' choice and not Roman's.

Raymond Verheijen said that he has a meeting on Friday afternoon in London, might be just formalities but the official announcement might come later than people expect.

If you asked me Friday I'd say no way in hell, but there's too much smoke in this one for there not to be fire. I think he's coming but that's just my opinion.

Plus, there's no doubt that the media in Portugal are all over this story because they love to destabilize Porto. Destabilizing Porto means helping Benfica, and Benfica are the true darlings of Portuguese media.

Oh we know that stuff about media favoring a certain club <_<

Although I'm excited I am cautious. Does Ronan expect him to win champions league and premier league in his first season? Would roman be prepared to give him time to flourish? How Would players like Drogba and Torres react after being dropped by a manager of their age who was a nobody two years back. How would some old Chelsea players react on being dripped by a very young manager who was only a scout for them few years back? How will he react to the pressure from board and English media

If he can win the dressing room and make us perform like Porto did last season he would be adored by fans and the board and I hope keeping him for te next decade should then be our priority.

In reality it doesn't matter in the slightest, I said that more to give some context to the situation in Portugal.

BTW, you have the best sig ever in the history of the world, every time I see it I can't help but crack a smile.

FTR. My money is/was on van Basten as he was Hiddink's 1st choice to be coach under him as DoF. AVB is Abramovich's choice. #CFC is his club

If #CFC pay AVB release clause the total spent on compensation hiring/firing managers under Abramovich will be approx £62.1m(not inc wages).

Success breeds high expectations, but I don't think even Roman EXPECTS the champions league out of this guy next season. Personally, I would expect the premier league next season because the players we have are more than good enough to win it, but we would need the older players to buy-in to AVB and show him respect. I think you'll see a big bounceback year from Lamps, Torres, etc... because they have a lot to prove and will have some of that fire back in their bellies and Mr. AVB will win over all the doubters.

Awful hair, can't sign him. Shoulda kept Carlo, now that was good hair.

Hmmmm....if this happens, never ever pay any attention to the tweeters, "sources" again...Chelsea really do march to to its own drumbeat.
