I still hope we take a look at safe standing.

It would give us a much bigger capacity.

Having a new ground will also let us have a move around. Back when half of the Shed end was taken from us and given to away supporters we had many beer fueled meetings to discuss just what we was going to do about it. As there was nowhere near enough room for us all it seemed logical for us all to just swap ends. But we couldnt all agree. so some stayed, some went into the East stand some went into West and majority are in MH.

Which meant all of our more vocal lads are split up thus making home games not as boisterous as away games as we all get together in one place for those. I only see some lads at away games as they arent in the MH.

Being all back in one place again would be great and IF we were also sitting/standing with railway seats would make it even better.

The Football Supporters Federation reckon safe standing gives an extra 12% capacity for any given space in a stadium. So the overall increase wouldn't be dramatic but it would still be worth it if it's possible.

It would help alot. And as the last numbers I saw was that 96% of Chelsea supporters wanted it and as the law states that only seating must be provided for every supporter then I really cant see why we arent pushing for it.

It'll need a change in the law and I can't see Parliament getting around to it, even if a majority of MPs would be in favour, which is questionable.

Personally I'm against it but I recognise that this puts me in the minority.

Used to love the terraces back in the day. White Wall and the middle of the Shed. Not against standing per say but at my age and my back it's a no no for me.

the terraces were so much better atmosphere..it`s mad to think that probably atleast 50% of TalkChelsea have never stood on a terrace.

we used to get away with a lot when we could lose ourselves in the mass of bodies..the Shed end has lost it`s soul since they seated it.

Was a White Waller myself. Loved it but, for me, standing ramps up the testosterone levels. Outright hooliganism, racism and other assorted misbehaviour blighted our game for more than two decades and I don't think we are completely out of the woods yet. I'm not especially worried about violence in the ground, I think modern systems could help clubs keep a lid on that, but I am concerned about people returning to the excitable days.

The ugly atmosphere that often surrounded football in the bad old days was horrible to live through and it emptied grounds all over the country. Each and ever one of the measures which were introduced as counter measures were opposed by fan groups and football people but every one has worked well. If it ain't broke, don't fix it.

I agree with all of this but I'm still not in favour.

On the atmosphere, it's been an issue for our club for decades. People used to say the reason The Bridge lacked passion was because the terracing was so far from the pitch. I never bought that argument and I don't believe that the hope of improving atmosphere is a good enough reason to bring standing back.
