As I've previously stated, I would like to keep Ba because he offers something different to Lukaku and Torres (not that Lukaku can't learn to be a target man like Ba but for the mean time he's the only proper target man we have).

The club should be looking to sell Fernando before selling Ba if we do get Rooney. Ba's on low wages and is the ideal squad player.

A Rooney/Lukaku/Ba strike force offers versatility and tactical flexibility. Almost as good as City's strike force - would probably be the second best in the league.

Like I said, the only reason why he hasn't hand in the request is because he is due £3m bonus soon, if he hands it in, whether the move happen or not he would still lose that £3m so he is not rushing like in 2010-2011.

Why would United sell him without a transfer request? He can wait till the last minute if he wants, he'll just end up staying at United in that case. They have no reason to sell him. He might sulk, but next summer is the world cup and before you know it he'll be back in the United team and working his ass off to make sure he's on form for the world cup.

Maybe because he is on £250k per week and they don't want being paid that much to sit on the bench. He also made it clear he want to play ST next season, not CM again. I wouldn't get too worry about the world cup if I was him when his competitors are the likes of Andy Carrol LOL and Welbecks who will never start in front of him for England while he is fit(not for a long time anyway). The only real competitor he got atm is Sturridge and if Suarez stays, I am not sure Sturridge would get to play in his fav position all the time.

If he is coming I don't see it happening until after United game.. We should lock the thread until then or until official transfer request from rooney is handed in. We keep seeing the same chelsea to rebuff offer, moyes saying not for sale then some new chelsea player talking him up..

what about the prospect of bringing in Alexis Sanchez of FCB...though its off topic....

He is terrible. Plus his play acting when Terry got sent off. We dont need his kind. He suits Barca perfectly.

As each day passes my frustration grows. The longer this goes without Rooney handing in a transfer request the more its looking like he's staying and that all he's wanted this whole time is more cash from United.

If by the end of the week he hasn't asked for a transfer formally I wish we'd just bid for Suarez. Jose himself just stressed the importance of preseason for a player, so we can't piss about and wait.

Don't remind me. :(

And you know he's the most popular player when we go on tour, so when the club sees the fangirls going crazy about him they'll be even more reluctant to sell. Already hard enough to stomach seeing Torres as the featured player on all of our adverts.

everyone knows that Mou's Rooney business is psychological warfare at its best, right? Win/win: if he signs, we have strengthened our squad and hurt Menure's; if he doesn't, we have created a bizarre climate in a title rival's dressing room - which their new coach has to handle with absolute care...
