Edinson Cavani

Yet Luiz wasn't up to it and Cavani is top quality. PSG are close to getting Di Maria but for a huge amount of cash, they apparently need to sell in order to comply with FFP and the viable option is Cavani for a number of circumstances.

Spot on.

That's a trade up if ever I've seen one. They can have fun with Luiz, we get a top class striker, and we fund their move for Di Maria stopping the likes of United signing him.

Shit, if we sign Cavani maybe the board will just cut their losses and allow Torres to walk on a free making it easy to get rid of him. :)

Don't know how wise it would be to have Costa and Cavani in the same team but if both of them are up for the challenge and Jose wants to get Cavani, I wouldn't say no if we somehow managed to offload Torres first. Costa, Cavani, Drogba would be one of the best strikeforces in world football and a nice change from last seasons Eto'o, Torres, Ba.

Cech, 'Roo, Thibaut, Brana, Dave, Luis, Obi, Romeu, MvG, Matic, Eden, Oscar, Salah, Schurrle, Willian, Costa, Didi, Torres - that's 18- so wouldn't we have to move 2 along to get another non-HG?

Doubt they will sell for anything less than 70m euros considering they paid 60m last summer. Even Cech we would need to add around 45-50m. Not mention we mugged them off with Luiz, they will have that in mind too.

So unless we are selling Oscar too I doubt we can afford it.

I wouldn't sign him. Think schurrle can be the man to fill in but obviously he's a good player and would do a job.

I think is best if schurrle stays as a winger cause he give us width.

So this would be a very good move if it happens.

Even if we don't get rid of Torres I won't care. Having two top striker with a super sub in DD would be awesome.

I know, but somehow I got a feeling Cech will move on and at least one of Mikel, Romeu and MvG will no doubt leave as well so adding another striker would only depend on whether or not we can get rid of Torres.

Believe me mate we aren't ones to be worried about affording things based on the profit made on sales such as De Bruyne, Luiz, Mata and Lukaku. We are also comfortable when it comes to FFP too.

Oh I know we just got Lukaku money too, it is not the fee I am talking about but the whole package. He will get at least 150k per week too as he is on 180k atm for PSG after taxes, with Costa/Hazard and Torres all on that it is impossible for us to afford that. If we sell Torres to Atletico then it makes sense but not while he is still at the club.

We can loan easily again to Southampton.

Those chumps in need of a team.

So Romeu or mvg cab easily go there.

Since there are heavy roumours about Di Maria beeing a PSG player in the next few days, If PSG will finance the deal for Di Maria with money from Cavani i think things will move quickly from now.

LOL looks like it is starting up now, not even mere rumors anymore. For 40m he could be our I think we can offload both Torres and Cech or Mikel.

Chelsea are weighing up a move for Paris Saint-Germain's Edinson Cavani, sources have told ESPN.

The striker has been linked with a switch to Stamford Bridge for some time, but joining Jose Mourinho's side would be dependent on a number of factors, not least Chelsea's need to comply with UEFA regulations.

Apart from already having exceeded the Premier League and Champions League quotas for foreign players over the age of 21 by one - with Didier Drogba taking them to 18 - Chelsea are also increasingly conscious of Financial Fair Play.

It is expected that Petr Cech could move on, however, and that purchasing Cavani would finally prompt the long-mooted sale of Fernando Torres. Furthermore, the departure of Romelu Lukaku to Everton, which brought in £28m, has freed up more funds.

Sources state that Chelsea have been quoted a price of £40m by PSG for Cavani and that the player is eager to move to Stamford Bridge, despite apparent public protestations that he would prefer to stay in France.

There has already been preliminary contact between the London club and the player's camp, although Chelsea are still assessing the best course of action.

With Mourinho having regularly complained about his forward line's lack of goals last season, signing Cavani and selling Torres would mean his attack has been completely overhauled, after the purchases of Diego Costa and Didier Drogba and departures of Demba Ba and Samuel Eto'o.

From a tactical point of view, Cavani would also provide the type of pace on the break that Mourinho favours and that was sorely missing last season.

Cavani has endured a largely disappointing time at PSG, which is reflected in the apparent drop in price. The £40m believed to have been quoted to Chelsea would be £15m lower than the £55m he went to the French champions for last summer.

Ironically, one of Cavani's worst performances came in the Champions League quarter-final second leg away to Chelsea, but that has not deterred either club or player as he has often been played away from his best role.

Sources close to Cavani say that, in private, he is very eager for the move. Although he seemed to publicly play down any departure on Thursday, the very same comments also left the possibility of a move open.

"I am certain to stay, why wouldn't I be? I feel great in Paris," Cavani said. "I have a contract to respect with PSG. I'm calm. I prefer to be here. I feel good here. But as I have said before, it doesn't only depend on the player, but also on certain things that can happen at the club."

In that regard, the player's sale would also allow PSG to conform to FFP themselves, while still signing Angel Di Maria from Real Madrid. The French club effectively have to sell big before they can buy big again, so Cavani's transfer may actually set a number of moves in motion.

Manchester United have also been mooted as a possible destination - as they have with Di Maria - but it is understood that, so far, that is no more than the player's camp floating possible destinations.

I forgot Ramires in that list so in fact it's 19 at the club currently.
